By Farr Rising Gamay
Unleash the captivating charm of By Farr Rising Gamay 2021, a 750mL treasure from Geelong’s Moorabool Valley, crafted by Nick Farr of the iconic Farr family. Grafted onto Cabernet rootstock in 1999, this Gamay grows in black cracking clay soils with volcanic pebbles, hand-picked and whole-bunch fermented for 10 days to release carbonic fruit aromas, then foot-stomped and aged in five-year-old barrels for eight months. The 2021 vintage reveals a bright ruby hue with an expressive nose of red cherry, green herb, and spice, layered with gamey, animal notes. The palate is full of red berry fruits, savoury undertones, and vibrant acidity, with defined tannins and a long, earthy finish. Rated 95 points by Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front) for its “incredibly expressive” nature, this Gamay pairs beautifully with charcuterie or roasted duck, offering a Burgundian finesse with Australian flair. A collector’s gem with 5 plus years of cellaring potential.
