The Bunnamagoo Estate Cabernet Shiraz MerlotExhibiting dark chocolate, raspberry and mocha characters with a mid-palate freshness without the heavy tannic weight of traditional Mudgee. The wine is silky in texture with great persistence and it finshes with gentle vanillin oak characters. It will benefit from careful cellaring in the short to medium term.The grapes destined for the Bunnamagoo labels are sourced from the Bunnamagoo Estate, a historic property near Rockley, and from the Eurunderee vineyard not far from Mudgee.

The nose shows complex savoury, earthy, bramble aromas with lifted American oak. The palate is medium bodied with bright red currant and hints of spice and blackberry.

Nature is a very curious and amazing thing and as vineyard owners in the Central Ranges wine district of New South Wales, we are constantly surprised how well our vines can perform in stressful conditions, with little to no rain. Miracle on the Wire refers to the tiny bunches of grapes that form on our vines each year, as well as to the sighting of the Blue Wren perched up on the wires of our Zeals Vineyard, as this is usually a sign of coming rain and good fortune.The extensive vineyard is Certified Organic, and adopts natural, sustainable, farming practices to ensure vigorous growth of the grapevines. This wine is mid-weighted, displaying layers of mixed red fruits and spicy notes. The tannins are gentle and interwoven with subtle French oak characters. Thistle Hill, from the New South Wales region of Mudgee, was one of the pioneers of organic winemaking and took the plunge over 40 years ago! With new winemaker Tim White at the helm, the wines have gone from strength to strength and this 2016 Preservative Free Shiraz is testimony to that. Raspberry coulis blackberries, bright cherries, dark chocolate and vanillin oak. This shiraz is fruity, exuberant and lively. Filtered / Unfined. Vegan friendly.

On the palate ripe berries, rich fruitcake and chocolate flavours can be noted, along with a silky smooth and velvety finish. Dense fully body with an aromatic display of dark fruit, spicy oak and sweet tobacco. Lovely full bodied wine that is sweet and fruity in the mouth. Very flavoursome with well balanced oak.

Brilliant colour, dense red right to the edge. Sweet, blackberry and mulberry nose highlighted with French Oak. Fruit, wood, alcohol and tannins are combining for a wonderful long finish. Medium bodied, will only get better with time. In balance now, but it would be a shame to drink it too soon – 2018 onwards.
