Toolangi is a state forest just outside Healesville that was devastated during Black Saturday. The excellent vineyards remain, and continue to produce wines of personality and place. The Chardonnay combines varietal characters of quince and crab apple with some delicious nutty oak nuances. Its great value.

A pale lemon wine with a lifted floral and stone fruit nose. The palate carries through these fruit forward characers and adds layers of buttered toast and biscuit. It is a wie that is textured , full, yet crisp, with a lingering citrus peel finish.

The 2019 vintage was rewarded with substantial spring rains maintaining a dense canopy, providing the grapes protection over the hot summer. The perfect February ripening conditions created delicate flavours of white peach and vanillin oak spice, balanced by a crisp citrusy acidity and a long clean finish.

Sticks Yarra Valley is beautifully situated on a single site in the picturesque Yarra Valley, an hour’s drive from Melbourne. The Winery and Cellar Door, which are nestled in to the base of the Christmas Hills, have unparalleled views of the Estate vineyard and Great Dividing ranges. Sticks Blanc de Blanc 2021 is pale lemon in colour with a persistant, fine bead. Lemon curd, brioche and freshly sliced green apple; on the palate - quince and lightly poached pears with a lovely line of citrus, leading to a cleansing and refreshing finish.

It didn't take much encouragement from Yarra Valley winemaker Dr John Middleton to convince TarraWarra Estate's Marc and Eva Besen to plant their first 6 hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 1983. Their love of Burgundian wines also played a part. Today, the property features 28 hectares of vines, an extensive nature reserve, cattle grazing, a kitchen garden and a beautiful cellar door and restaurant. The Chardonnay was selected from seven separate blocks across the property. Great intensity with stone fruits, a touch of citrus and underlying cashew nut flavours.
