Some would say McLaren Vale is the spiritual home of Australian Grenache. We are not about to start arguing when Grenache like this one from Chapel Hill are produced. Generous rich red fruits with smattering of dried herbs and a fleshy mid-palate. There is real concentration and complexity to this wine.

The nose is reminiscent ofa fresh ferment and the taste of grapesfresh from the vine with scents ofstrawberry, lychee and rose petal. Thiswine is a very natural and cloudy exampleof pure Grenache from McLaren Vale. Thepalate is lively and the strawberry fruitcarries through as fruity, zesty and crisp.

2015 Clarendon Hills Domaine Clarendon Grenache, Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Intense dark to black raspberry aromas intermingle with dark plum and liquorice followed by vanillin confectionary and spice. Rich, voluptuous in texture and exceptionally long in the mouth, this is one powerful Grenache. Succulent black raspberry flavours dominate over liquorice and ripe black cherries. There’s an echo of vanillin confectionary on the finish and loads of spice. Bright acidity with firm yet balanced tannins providing a robust framework. Very long conclusion of black raspberries, liquorice, vanillin confectionary and spicy pepper.
