At Tiberio, the winemaking process is executed with meticulous care, with every step carefully considered and flawlessly executed. In the year 2000, Riccardo Tiberio stumbled upon a rare plot of Trebbiano Abruzzese vines, a discovery that would shape the future of the winery. Recognizing the potential of this find, he made the decision to acquire the land and dedicate it to producing single estate wines. Initially, a selection of indigenous and international grape varieties adorned the vineyards, but with time, the focus shifted to Pecorino and Trebbiano Abruzzese, reflecting the estate's unwavering commitment to quality and showcasing the unique characteristics of Abruzzo's native grape varieties. Among Tiberio wines, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo stands proudly as one of their most celebrated creations. This full-bodied red wine is crafted from the Montepulciano grape, flourishing in the clay and limestone soils that define the region. With its deep ruby color and captivating aromas of ripe berries and spices, it entices the senses and transports the drinker to the heart of Abruzzo. Alongside their renowned reds, Tiberio takes equal pride in their Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, a rosé wine that captures the very essence of summer in a single glass. Crafted from the Montepulciano grape, this rosé embodies a delicate balance between fruitiness and acidity. Its flavors of cherry, strawberry and hints of Mediterranean herbs evoke memories of sun-drenched afternoons and warm evenings, leaving a lasting impression on the palate. The Tiberio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colle Vota vineyard is a remarkable site that produces a unique expression of Montepulciano. Unlike the "Riserva" designation, Colle Vota is classified as a "Single Vineyard" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, highlighting its distinct characteristics that set it apart from other Montepulciano vineyards at Tiberio. The Montepulciano grapes grown in the Colle Vota vineyard exhibit notable differences. The bunches and berries are smaller, with crunchier and thicker skins. This contributes to the wine's exceptional texture and structure. Additionally, the Colle Vota Montepulciano takes longer to reach maturity, benefitting from the vineyard's microclimate that provides an extended hang time. These factors combine to produce a truly unique Montepulciano wine. Interestingly, the Colle Vota vineyard thrives in cooler and even rainy vintages. The resulting Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wines crafted from these grapes possess a refined and light character, reminiscent of Burgundy's Pinot Noir and Piedmont's Nebbiolo wines. Despite these influences, the wine retains its Montepulciano backbone and soul. Recognizing the exceptional quality of the Colle Vota vineyard, Tiberio has decided to bottle this wine separately, allowing it to shine as a distinct expression of both place and the potential of the Montepulciano grape variety. The vineyard was planted in 2000 using selections from the oldest Montepulciano vineyard on the property. This original Montepulciano clone has adapted to its specific environment, characterized by different soils, subsoils and a unique microclimate. As a result, a new Montepulciano biotype has developed, giving rise to a highly perfumed and refined wine. Tiberio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colle Vota 2019 is a wine that truly captures the essence of its unique terroir. Grown at an altitude of 350 meters (1200 ft) in a 1.6-hectare (4-acre) vineyard, this wine showcases the meticulous craftsmanship and dedication put into its production. The soil composition of limestone and marly-clay over a sandstone-rich bedrock contributes to the wine's character and complexity. The vines, trained using the Single Guyot method, have a planting density of 4,000 vines per hectare. With a yield of 28 Hl, the grapes are carefully hand-harvested to ensure optimal quality. During the winemaking process, only indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation in stainless steel tanks, which lasts for 20 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tank, further enhancing the wine's texture and flavour profile. The aging process occurs in tank, allowing the wine to develop and mature gracefully. Bottled without fining or filtration, the Tiberio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colle Vota 2019 undergoes additional aging in the bottle before release, allowing its flavors to harmonize and evolve. Upon tasting, this wine reveals intense and expressive flavors. Notes of yellow peach, sage, cedar, cinnamon, marzipan, spices and earthy soil come together in a highly complex and captivating bouquet. The mouthfeel is long, deep and creamy, filling the palate with refined, silky tannins and a subtle saline character. The finish is energizing and persistent, leaving a lasting impression. Crafted from 100% selections of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, transplanted to a higher single vineyard, this wine represents a specific biotype uniquely adapted to its microclimate.

Massolino Langhe Riesling

Massolino Barolo Parussi

The 2015 Parussi is bursting with lovely juicy, wild forest fruit and grenadine notes underpinned by an intense, mineral freshness and fresh walnut-like tannins. A beautiful Barolo that closes with a super long, mint-and-lavender-and-cherry-scented finish. The iron-rich, 'blue clay' soils here are a little lighter, more oxygenated, with more silt and less clay than Serralunga. This makes for more vigour in the vines and a completely different style of wine. The Massolino family were attracted by the excellent south-easterly and south-westerly exposure of the vines, the vineyard's situation at 300 metres above sea level on the crest of the hill, and the 45-year-old vines. Today, they are the only Barolo producer to bottle a single vineyard wine from this cru. A traditional Barolo, 15-20 days of fermentation and maceration at 31-33°C; aged in oak barrels for about 30 months and left to mature in bottles placed in special dark, cool cellars for about a year. Founded in 1896, Massolino Winery, is based in and around the town of Serralunga, one of the prime sub-zones of the Barolo DOC. The Massolino familys greatest asset is of course their 23 hectares of (mostly) Serralunga vineyards, including choice parcels of such famous sites as; Margheria, Parafada and the legendary Vigna Rionda. We say mostly as the Massolino clan recently purchased a slice of the Parussi cru in Castiglione Falletto. Serrralunga, on the eastern edge of the Barolo DOCG, produces some of most profound and long lived Barolo. It is the home of great names such as Giacomo Conterno and Bruno Giacosas Falletto vineyard. The wines often have an extra stuffing of intense Nebbiolo fruit as well as a remarkable minerality that plays on both the freshness of the tannins and gives the wines a certain ferrous edge when young. It is fair to say that Massolino holds the most remarkable collection of vineyards in Serralunga, amongst the smaller, quality focused producers anyway. The quality strides at this estate over the last 10-15 years have been remarkable with significant advances made, particularly in the vineyards. Certainly there has also been refinements in the cellars, firstly by Franco Massolino and then by current winemaker Giovanni Angeli (ex Vajra) who has been working with Franco since the 2005 harvest. As always however, it has been the work in the vineyards and the search for expressive and perfectly ripe fruit that has driven the rise in quality at this estate. The resultant improvement here has been very good news for both the commune and Barolo in general. Today the wines of Massolino sit comfortably among the finest of the region they are wines of wonderful purity and elegance. They are exclusively aged in large casks, so they are traditional and yet they offer the best of the old and new worlds: pure, aromatic, textural, deeply flavoured wines that are at the same time precise, vibrant and distinctly regional. These are wines that score extremely highly on our deliciousness scale. Equally important, these wines are remarkably well priced when compared to the other top producers of the area.

Dorio Montepulciano

We searched the region of Abruzzo for a savoury quaffer that's perfect for Tuesday night Italian, and this is it. Bright red fruit with length and depth, rustic (but squeaky clean) with genuine Italian savoury notes and that chalky tannin edge on the finish.

Masseria Altemura Apulo Primitvo

A blend of two native grapes of Puglia, negroamaro and primitivo, and sourced from the Brindisi area. It delivers tasty value for money with its violet tinged bouquet and round and abundant flavours of sweet dark plum and dried cherry.

Farinelli Pinot Grigio

Stretching along Italy's Adriatic coast, the Abruzzo boasts pretty coastal coves and dramatic landscapes of soaring mountain peaks, deep valleys and ancient castles. The region also offers a range of attractive wines - the creamy, plum filled Montepulciano based reds, citrusy Trebbianos and, most recently, fruity Pinot Grigios. This Pinot Grigio is a new addition to our Farinelli range. The estate proudly champions a traditional trellising system, 'pergola abruzzese', which ensures the grapes receive excellent exposure to the bright sunshine and so gain full ripeness. The result is a lovely balance of bright pear and apple fruit, teamed with minerally zip. It makes an ideal apéritif and goes well with fish, chicken and creamy pasta.

BIBI GRAETZ Colore

Colpasso Nero d'Avola

Made from Nero d'Avola, a native grape of Sicily. The vineyards that produced this well crafted red are in the Belice area on the western side of the island. A portion of the fruit is treated very carefully during picking and transportation so as not to break the skins. The bunches are than laid out and dried for 30 days. They are then gently destemmed and crushed, and fermentation takes place. This wine is then added back to the normally fermented portion. The combination of two wines provides great intensity, complexity and interest. The wine has an incredibly intense nose featuring black pepper and spices. The palate offers layers and layers of fruit with bursts of dark berry fruit, excellent balance and complexity, with a soft, lingering finish.
