Midday Somewhere takes the privacy of its users seriously. This page explains what happens to your data and how it is protected.

Personal details

Email address

To become a member of Midday Somewhere you must supply an email address. Your email address is stored in a database which is only visible to Midday Somewhere staff and server administrators who keep Midday Somewhere services operating. Midday Somewhere may send you promotional emails which you can opt out of at any time.

Third party advertisers

Midday Somewhere does not share your personal details with third party advertisers.

Midday Somewhere does not store member passwords on its servers. Midday Somewhere staff and server administrators are unable to see your password. Passwords are encrypted and stored using a one-way hash function which cannot be reversed.

When members log in to Midday Somewhere the password they entered is encrypted using the same method and is compared against the original encrypted version stored on Midday Somewhere servers. If the two match, the member is granted access.

Midday Somewhere members can choose not to use a password. In this scenario members who wish to log in are sent an email containing a single-use link granting access.

Encrypted pages

All pages on Midday Somewhere are delivered over the HTTPS protocol which encrypts the connection between your browser and Midday Somewhere servers. This prevents others from eavesdropping on your visit and ensures data exchanged between your web browser and Midday Somewhere servers is not compromised in any way.

You can verify pages are encrypted by looking for the padlock icon in the address bar of your web browser.

Cookies are small pieces of text data sent from the website and stored in your browser whilst you browse the website.

Midday Somewhere stores a “session ID” in a cookie for members who successfully log in to the website. Without this cookie, you would need to re-enter your password every time you visit a page on the website. The session ID contains only random digits and letters and does not contain any personal information.

IP address

Midday Somewhere stores the IP address of your internet connection, which may be used to identify your internet service provider and approximate geographical location. To ensure the website remains operational we may block access from specific IP addresses if that connection is used to attack Midday Somewhere servers.
