The iconic Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon, the definitive Coonawarra flagship crafted only in exceptional years from the heart of the terra rossa soil, is now beginning to reveal its incredible potential. This wine is a masterclass in balance and structure, where a seamless line of plush black and red fruits meets layers of eucalypt and exotic spice, with subtle hints of freshly turned earth hinting at maturity. Crafted from the estate's best Bordeaux-origin Cabernet Sauvignon grapes planted in 1985 on terra rossa soil and aims to rival Bordeaux First Growths. First Growth is only produced in vintages where fruit quality and varietal typicity is deemed to be exceptional. Fermented for 12 days and macerated for a further 28 in closed fermenters, the wine gained tannin structure and aging potential. Pressed into 80% new French oak barriques and matured for 18 months, developing fine-grained tannins and a tightly structured wine capable of improving over 20 years of cellaring. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep, dense red with purple hues. Aromas of cassis, blackberry, dried herbs, and cigar box. Palate of cassis and dried herbs leading to blackberry and spice, with restrained, long-lasting tannins.

Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon is the icon Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Named after Coonawarra pioneer, pastoralist and parliamentarian, John Riddoch, this Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the very best of Wynns vast planting in Coonawarra and it only made in the years that best express Wynns strive for excellence. Arguably richer and more complex from comparable styles in the region, John Riddoch Cabernet is highly sought after and extremely limited.

In the winery: Matured for 20 months in new French barriques, Hungarian, French and American hogsheads. In the glass: Inky dark red. On the nose: Ripe dark fruit, a hint of mint, toasty oak and cedary development.On the palate: Intense black fruit power melding well with deluxe mocha oak a rich, dense and complex reserve style with tight, grainy tannins and spicy acidity.

Chateau Lascombes is a second grand cru classé of Margaux, renowned for producing perfumed elegant wines which gain greater depth and complexity with cellaring. The 118 ha vineyard of the Chateau is one of the largest and most fragmented in the area with plots spread across the Margaux appellation. Plantings comprise 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot anchored predominantly on gravel, clay and sand soils. The wine is vinified in a combination of wood and stainless steel vats and then aged in 80% new French oak barriques for 18 months. Serious investment both in the vineyard and winery has led to a notable renaissance in quality in recent years.

With a history dating back to 1143, Chateau du Tertre is one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux. Since 1995 it has been in the hands of the Jelgersma family, also owners of Chateau Giscours. The du Tertre vineyard is a large single block, with 52ha under vine, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (11%) and Petit Verdot (7%). Biodynamic viticultural techniques were being introduced beginning in 2008 and du Tertre was one of the first in Bordeaux to ferment grapes in egg-shaped concrete vats. The property produces a second wine, Les Hauts de Tertre, and from 2014 a dry white wine, Tertre Blanc, an unusual blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier and Gros Manseng. This Margaux property was classified Cinquieme Cru (Fifth Growth) in 1855.
