Impenetrable midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced aromas of blackcurrant infused with black olive escape from the glass trailed by some cigar box, bay leaf and spice. Rich blackcurrant and plum fruits are interwoven with a cedary tobacco, subtle black olive and spicy bay leaf characters. Fine grained tannins provide a sturdy support base. Concludes long, ripe and spicy. Drink over the next 4-5 years. Alc. 14.2%

Full and rich in the mouth. Full bodied with a saturation of black and blue toned berries. Tannins are firm and fine grained with alcohol and acid nicely integrated into the structure of the wine. Complex flavours of preserved dark fruits overlaid with a suggestion of marzipan. A fresh, tight finish with hints of eucalyptus.

It's a regional classic, and rightly so", as Dave Brooks writes in The Halliday Wine Companion, "All lemon butter spread on freshly toasted brioche with hints of soft spice, marzipan, wildflowers, crushed stone and drying fields. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon shows aromas of ripe dark berry fruits, black currants and plums with mint and varietal leafy tones. The palate is rich and flavoursome, full of plush, dark fruit with some savouriness and hints of oak. The tannins are soft. Generous length and balance finishing rich and soft.
