THE STANDISH WINE COMPANY Lamella Shiraz, Barossa The Standish Wine Company produces a number of small-volume, single-site wines from various parts of the Barossa and Eden valleys. This one is 100% Shiraz from Hutton Vale Farm in the Eden Valley. Dan Standish is a sixth generation Barossan and seven generations of the Angas family have worked Hutton Vale. The Lamella is a transcendent Shiraz of great density and purity, yet also has a feeling of elegance maintained through careful and sensitive winemaking. Dan Standish is an important figure in the Barossa. He founded The Standish Wine Company in 1999 and in 2000, after leaving Torbreck (then soon to have two Langtons Classified wines), he co-founded Massena, another label that has played an important part in redefining modern Barossa Valley.winemaking.He has also made wine in Californias Napa and Sonoma valleys, the Rioja in Spain and the Rhone Valley of France. His aim is to showcase some of the Barossas finest sites with seductive wines that combine power and finesse. He has built a reputation for being able to make wines with a distinctive X-factor.

Seppeltsfield The Westing Shiraz Barossa The Grounds wines from Seppeltsfield focus on the sub-regionality of the Barossa. The name is derived from the Barossa Grounds project. This was a comprehensive study of the districts sub-regionality led by the Barossa Grape & Wine Association. The fruit is sourced from single-site, estate-owned vineyards. 'Seppeltsfield, under the ownership of entrepreneur and winemaker Warren Randall, has undergone a remarkable transformation.' The fruit for The Westing is sourced from the Western Grounds Vineyard Seppeltsfield V Block. The Westing is vinified through Seppeltsfields historic 1888 Gravity Cellar. The fruit is fermented in open fermenters and matured for 14 months in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads. The Westing is a full-bodied Shiraz in the classic Barossa style. The wine reflects the slate and granite soils with strong mineral notes, and fruit flavours of blackberry, Morello cherry. Complex deeper notes of earth and cured meats bring the palate to a long and evenly weighted finish. Strikingly beautiful, the wine shows perfumed aromas of dark plum, mulberry, thyme, clove and roasted hazelnut on the nose, leading to a beautifully refined palate that’s silky and flowing. The wine offers splendid sophistication and harmony.The combined effects of site soil and climate on the vine. The Barossa has some very distinct sub-regions which exhibit their own unique influence on the wine. A journey through the Terroirs is a lesson in the Barossa’s versatility. Seppeltsfield Northing Shiraz, Barossa 2019 The Grounds wines from Seppeltsfield focus on the sub-regionality of the Barossa. The name is derived from the Barossa Grounds project. This was a comprehensive study of the districts sub-regionality led by the Barossa Grape & Wine Association. The fruit is sourced from single-site, estate-owned vineyards. The fruit for the Northing comes from a single vineyard in the Marananga parish. A contemporary expression grown from red brown earth and ironstone, it is a full-bodied powerhouse filled with herbs, dark cacao and sensuous dark cherry. Grippy and chewy on the palate, time will see good things.

Head Wilton Hill Shiraz Barossa Ranges Wilton Hill is comprised of an old vine vineyard, perched atop the Barossa Ranges as it encroaches on the Eden Valley. The soil, a complex polyglot of sandy loams, limestone and ferrous ironstone over a substrata of mottled quartz. The geology is arguably more intrinsic to the makeup of the wine than the variety, or maker Alex Heads deft hand. This is top- drawer Barossa Grand Cru speaking. Make no mistake! Think a swirl of dark fruits, aromas of iodine, lilac and violet, punctuated with a swab of tapenade-encrusted tannins. Dig deeper and there are scents of smoked meats, thyme, lavender and mocha, trailing across a peppery trail of freshness that tows this full-bodied wine long.
