Marananga, centred in the North West quadrant of the Barossa provides some of the Valleys most powerful wines. The red brown clay loam soils with schists and siltstone yield flavours of jam and fruitcake, cardamom, blueberry fruits, cocoa powder with an undercurrent of roasted meats and crackling.WINEMAKINGTo ensure the unique character of this sub region is exemplified in the wine, small open fermenters and our basket press were employed to gently extract the wine. Aging in the finest quality oak for 18 months and selection of the truest barrels has created a wine that respects and expresses its place of origin.

MUNDA WINES Ngadjuri and Peramangk Country Grenache, Barossa Valley, Eden Valley Munda chooses minimal intervention in the winery, and prefers to bottle relatively early to reflect the brightness of their wines. The use of wild ferment, a combination of older French oak and stainless steel for maturation gives the wine pretty and immediately expressive, multi layered aromas of raspberry, dried cherries, lifted spices and rhubarb. Medium bodied with layers of tannins and savoury earthy flavours balanced with textured waves of spicy fruit. Complex, soft on the palate with a fineness and elegance counterbalanced with generosity and depth of texture that speaks of its munda (land or country).
Schwarz The Grower Grenache
A bright and playful nose, opening with spiced red cherry, red licorice, briar berries and cola. The palate is all supple tannins with perky fruit flavour. Soft, juicy and delicious.
Common Ground GSM
Juicy and fresh, this wine is mainly produced from the stellar fruit off Utopos’ vineyards between the villages of Maranga and Greenock. This 35/35/30% blend has folds of supple black fruits and dark chocolate radically different to the hard tannins and mouthfeel of so many SA red wines. Bright in the mouth and with delicious flavours that linger.
Penfolds Bin 138 Grenache Mourvedre Shiraz
Bin 138 draws its inspiration from the wines of the southern Rhône Valley of France, where Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro (or Mourvèdre) are blended in varying proportions to create full-bodied wines possessing rich and heady perfume. Each year fruit for Bin 138 is sourced from old Barossa Valley vineyards (some more than 100 years old) and after fermentation the wine is matured for 12 to 15 months in seasoned oak hogsheads.. Bin 138 is defined by its distinctive plum, raspberry pastille and underlying spicy notes. The first vintage release of this blend was the 1992 and early vintages were labelled ‘Old Vine’. Mystery Barossa Valley Grenache Deal No. 5700
Deep purple with bright red hue. Aromatic and enticing with layers of fresh mulberries, black cherry, and musk, complexed by notes of Turkish delight and baking spices. Black fruits fill the mouth with expansive length. Nuances of flavour emerge, with chocolate malt supporting the generous fruit. A nerve of bright natural acidity heightens and drives the palate, complemented by finely knit, powdery tannins.
Mecklen Barossa Valley Grenache
A blend of 67% Grenache sourced from a single vineyard over 100 years old from Cockatoo Valley with 33% Shiraz sourced from Gomersal. Aged in new and seasoned oak barrels, this wine displays a red-brick colour with aromatics of black cherry, blueberry and rose petal, which follows through to the palate with fine ripe tannins and cinnamon oak. Excellent drinking now or over the next 7 years
