The Brand family story starts with the arrival of Eric Brand in Coonawarra in 1950. Today Brand & Sons is run by Sam Brand, the 4th generation of this family, which has played a major role in Coonawarra for over 70 years. This is a Coonawarra Shiraz of great acclaim and considerable complexity. "The 'Remnants' is a reference to the ancient sea bed that formed the hardened limestone seen throughout Coonawarra. Blackberry, dark cherry pit and elderberry. Hawthorn and kampot peppers. Nyon olive, sea moss and granite. There is a volcanic rock or mineral element that speaks on ancient seabed and time passing its a wine for those that like to ponder. Decant and its linear frame and perky acidity. The remnants of an ancient seabed formed the hard-packed Limestone base which atop sits the famous Coonawarra Red Terra-Rossa. Even today the marine life can be seen with the soft rock providing a natural filter for the water pooled in the aquifer below. A millennium in creation, it is these features combined that provide almost perfect conditions for premium grapes to grow. The ocean breeze still blows from the west providing the cool nights to compliment the warm days and development of flavour for our Coonawarra wines.

Producing the Quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon was one of Jim’s life-long endeavours. His drive, passion and endless pursuit for quality were the enduring attributes to which we all aspire. Jim’s legacy can be seen in each of our wines as we strive to achieve a perfect balance of varietal and regional intensity, but with an elegance and charm which invite and entice the drinker to enjoy a second glass. From premium Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the renowned Coonawarra region only the best fruit is used to produce an elegant dry red wine exhibiting intense varietal berry fruit characters and fine oak tannins.

The nose of this wine exhibits mocha, blackberry and pepper aromas. The complex palate is filled with dark chocolate notes.

Strong and full-bodied with notes of vibrant forest fruits and wild herbs. Fine tannins and subtle notes of oak deliver a wonderfully rich wine with flavour, structure and complexity.

Vibrant and intense dark cherry paired with generous juicy dark fruits. The palate is balanced with layers of vanilla and hints of mocha supported by fine-boned tannins and underlying oak complexity.
