Peter Lehmann was the fifth generation of one of Barossa's pioneering families and is regarded as a legend of Australian wine. The winery is rated as a 5 star winery by James Halliday and the wines consistently demonstrate the diversity of the Barossa Valley region. The 8 Songs Shiraz is deep red in colour with a black core and a bouquet of charcoal chocolate notes with dark plum and mocha, finishing with soft velvety tannins and rich opulent fruit on the palate. Kaesler’s new Reach for the Sky collection seeks to combine thoughtful winemaking and regenerative viticulture to create vibrant and unique wines that reflect the diversity of the Barossa, while honouring the ancient vines from the estate. At Kaesler our younger vineyards have been planted using cuttings from our icon vineyards (Old Bastard, Alte Reben etc). It’s part of the journey to ensure we don’t lose our unique genetic material as we know it’s so special to our wines and to the Barossa. Reach for the Sky parcels are selected from blocks that stylistically suit a more bright, fresh and vibrant style of wine that is made to be soft and approachable. VINTAGE CONDITIONS The 2021 vintage was in a word ‘Brilliant’. Barossa saw cool and dry conditions which has produced excellent quality reds and whites. Great growing conditions combined with good yields created a memorable harvest, with all wines showing a wide array of aromas and flavours. Soft supple tannins are in abundance in the reds which has ensured easy drinking in their youth, with careful cellaring also reaping rewards. The highlight for 2021 was the overall quality, a genuine 10/10 season. WINEMAKING All three varieties are picked and fermented separately prior to blending before it goes to bottle. Getting the blend right can be one of the most challenging part of the winemaking process as once its blended, it can’t be undone! Fortunately we were blessed with excellent quality for all three varieties from the 2021 vintage, which is a major reason why we have similar percentages of each variety in the blend. Best enjoyed slightly chilled! APPEARANCE: Deep crimson, bright hue. BOUQUET: Lifted red cherry, some dark brambly fruit with savoury spice from the Moucredre coming through. PALATE: Rich plum, with a dense middle palate with a soft pure fruited finish. Fresh and vibrant, it hovers between medium and full bodied, the blend displays all the hallmarks of each of these great varieties perfectly. FOOD MATCH: Tender red meat dishes with roasted mushrooms, or a charcuterie board is a great match.

Hemera Estate’s Limited Release collection enables us to showcase the most unique wines of the vintage, whether it be fruit from a specific block within our vineyard, or a distinctive parcel or variety that has proven itself to be outstanding. This collection enables us to bring to you in their purest form the wines that have most excited us in the winery. - Colour: Garnet with medium core. - Aroma: Intense aromas of plum, maraschino cherry, cranberry, red liquorice, dried herbs. - Palate: Mouth filling flavours of red currant, rhubarb and wild raspberry, wild herbs of dill and fennel with dusty fruit tannins. Winter rainfall was plentiful, ensuring optimal soil moisture profiles leading into spring.Conditions during spring and summer were significantly cooler than average with no summer heatwaves recorded only one day over 35C. These mild temperatures coupled with cool nights allowed for an extended slow ripening period leading into harvest. The extra hang-time allowed for terrific varietal flavour and aroma development, with the retention of natural acidity. The fruit was handpicked before being gently destemmed retaining whole berries. A small proportion was “bled off” for production of our rose’ to increase the skin to juice ration and therefore concentration. The fruit was fermented at cool temperatures in open top fermenters and pressed to a combination of new and seasoned French oak puncheons for 18 months. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.

Smooth and refined this Shiraz shows intense plum berry and liquorice flavours. Enhanced by maturation in quality oak this is a wine to enjoy now or cellar medium term.

Deep crimson red. Essence of pure red fruit nose. Pomegranate, spice, fennel bush, liquored and glacéed red cherry. Only medium bodied but round, plump, sweet core of red fruits and profoundly textured mouthfeel. An effortless wine.

Bruno & George Old Vine Shiraz, Barossa Valley Shiraz may be the archetype of the Barossa, but there are those expressions that transcend the usual heavy-weights by virtue of the experience of those behind them. Such is the case with Bruno & George. Here, deep local knowledge and vast international experience applied to both viticulture and winemaking, comes up trumps. The result is a more transparent wine, mid-weighted of feel and flecked with scents of lilac, salumi, clove, iodine and ample blue fruits. A smooth operator in the mouth, with a long glide to the finish, chaperoned by polished tannins and a peppery lilt. The choice of used, rather than new wood, appropriate.
