Compass Box Whisky's The Peat Monster combines smoky and peaty single malts from the island of Islay and the Isle of Mull with rich, medium-peated Speyside whisky. The result is, as you would except, a peaty and smoky delight with rich citrus notes of liquorice and spicy, sweet complexity. Balanced and highly drinkable this is a very approachable blended malt monster, but a monster nonetheless. Lovers of big, rich, smoky-peaty whiskies, this is for you.

In years long-passed, Distillery workers would help themselves to a dram using a 'Copper Dog'; a pipe hidden inside the leg of their trousers. These Speyside rascals and characters are the inpsiration for this unique blend of eight single malt whiskies, slowly married together in old oak casks. This special Laphroaig is crafted from carefully selected casks from each of the distillery's key styles - with one notable addition. The heart of this single malt is drawn from a final maturation in new American Oak casks, a rarity used for Scotch whisky maturation. With spirit selected by the master distiller from Quarter Cask, PX Cask and Triple Wood (European Oak casks) and a final addition of 10 Year Old, the whisky represents a subtle blending of peat, oak and sweetness. This is a full-bodied expression, featuring Laphroaig's trademark 'peat reek' matched by an additional layer of complexity and depth brought about by the fusion of the maturation styles and different oaks.

Akashi whisky is the only whisky in the world that is made by a Toji (grand-master in the art of sake making) by implementing sake-making methodologies into the whisky making process. The distil pot used is smaller than those used by both Scottish and other Japanese distilleries, which in turn, decreases the levels of fusel alcohol. As a result, Akashi whisky does not require as long of an ageing process, while its core malt (cask strength) is smooth and delicate.
