Jack Daniel's 1907 Tennessee Whiskey is charcoal mellowed and matured in the cooler areas of the barrel warehouse and bottled at 37% alcohol. Because the whiskey does not work its way as deeply into the barrel wood it has a light, slightly sweet taste profile. Jack Daniel's entrusted his famous distillery to his nephew, Lem Motlow in 1907. In 1940 a very special bottle of barrel-aged bourbon was brought on a wild turkey hunt. The name stuck and still signifies exceptional, aged bourbon today. Master Distiller Eddie Russell honours this tradition by ageing our bourbon longer - from five up to eight years - in number four 'alligator char' American oak barrels.
