The grapesfor this wine were picked from our 40 year old vines grown in the volcanic soilof the ancient Fordwich Sill. These low yielding mature vines produce ripe, concentrated fruitwhich results in a wine with excellent regional and varietal characters.

The wine shows lifted tropical fruits with hints of musk, spice and citrus florals. A full flavoured fruit-packed palate, with ripe tropical fruits, well balanced with great mouth feel and a long crisp finish.

The intention with this wine is to deliver a modern style of Hunter Semillon which offers outstanding early drinking appeal in combination with an ability to age over the short to medium term. The frame is still fine, but the flavours are more generous. Try with Sydney Rock Oysters!

McKelvey Estate continue to produce wines punching above their weight and with Keith Tulloch as winemaker, its easy to see why. In the glass: Delicate pale straw with green highlights. On the nose: Energetic and zesty white and yellow melon with cashew and fine oak spice. On the palate: Finely structured with elegant white fig and white peach, dry, minerally acidity and long, fresh acidity.

From the Hunter Valley region NSW this wine has the distinctive fresh tropical fruit flavours of the Verdelho grape. With flavours of ripe melon and fig it is a wine worthy of any long afternoon lounging around. Although the Hunter is better-known for its unique blend of Semillon Chardonnay, we do also see the occasional Semillon Verdelho, and this one is a cracker!Vibrant pale straw in appearance.
