Since 1992, Madfish have been producing an exciting range of contemporary, cool climate wines inspired by the wild, coastal and pure characterises of Australia's South West. The wines are made by the dedicated team led by chief winemaker Janice McDonald. The wine displays fresh green tinges to a very pale straw colour. Typical cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon aromas of lively tropical fruits and fresh herbaceous grassy characters make up an intense bouquet. The palate is fresh and lively with classic Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon characters and a fine structure that are an indication both of the quality of the vintage and the use of only free-run juice. The Hay Shed Hill vineyard is situated on a picturesque property that was established as a group settlement farm for returned soldiers from the First World War. Known as Sussex Vale the property was originally a dairy farm. The current homestead, considerably renovated, still has much of the original Group Settlement look and feel. Vines were first planted in the early 1970s. In the late 1980s the vineyard was bought by the Morrison Family and the wine brand Hay Shed Hill was established taking its name from the local reference to the hay shed located on the property. The sister label, Pitchfork, was developed to complement the single vineyard Hay Shed Hill label. A series of ownership changes saw numerous alterations to labels, wine style and distribution until the current group of partners bought back the farm and the brand in late 2006 and returned to the original concept of producing wine with integrity that expresses the quality of the site.

An authentic style of Tempranillo with well resolved tannins and great length of flavour. Some new American oak maturation has imparted a rich toasty vanillin oak note to balance the spicy cherry fruit and earthy flavours of the variety.

This Shiraz is uniquely Margaret River, with an incredible combination of fruit, spice and lingering fine-grained tannins. For the 2019 harvest, only the best blocks of Shiraz were harvested to make this limited production wine.

A full-bodied wine with fragrant blackcurrant with fine cedar-like oak aromatics. The plate is rich in ripe dark fruit characters and a subtle oak characters. A well balanced mouthfeel is complimented by light dusty tannins, perfectly balanced by natural acidity and a clean finish. Pair with a grilled beef burger or steak with hand-cut chips.
