The 2018 d’Arenberg The Galvo Garage Cabernet Merlot Cab Franc from McLaren Vale is a true gem from one of South Australia’s most esteemed wineries. With a deep ruby colour and a rich, complex bouquet of dark berries, vanilla, and cedar, this wine is a feast for the senses. On the palate, flavours of blackcurrant, plum, and spice are balanced by smooth tannins and a hint of oak. The addition of Cabernet Franc adds a touch of elegance and depth to the blend. This vintage is drinking beautifully now but also has the potential for further ageing. d'Arenberg The Footbolt Shiraz is a firm favourite with many McLaren Vale Shiraz lovers and for good reason. This is another great example of the rich, full-bodied style with aromas of ripe blackberry and spice that mingle with minty peppery notes. The palate is full-flavoured, supple in texture with a velvety finish.

The Wild Pixie by d'Arenberg has an unmistakeable connection with the earth from which it emerged, and is the perfect accompaniment to a rustic BBQ cooked over a glowing camp fire on a cold starry night. The flavours and aromas of earth, soot and game perfectly complement the setting. Primary blackberry and mulberry notes appear as the Shiraz develops in the glass. A generous warm wine with an abundance of savoury and dark fruits, completed by a fine emery like tannin trailing to subtle wood spice and vanilla notes.

Some would say McLaren Vale is the spiritual home of Australian Grenache. We are not about to start arguing when Grenache like this one from Chapel Hill are produced. Generous rich red fruits with smattering of dried herbs and a fleshy mid-palate. There is real concentration and complexity to this wine.
