High up in the Adelaide Hills, Paracombe is owned and operated by the Drogemuller family, which it has passionately done since 1983. Sourced from both estate and selected grower fruit, Paracombe Shiraz shows wonderful ripe fruit aromas with a delicate cool-climate aspect. Notes of cherries, plums, pepper and spice are notable along with a palate of layered spicy fruit and a fine tannin structure.

If we’re honest, there’s not a single reason that we don’t love Sidewood. They’re far from being one-trick ponies (although everyone can find a favourite in their range). Whether it be sensational sparkling, succulent sauvignon blanc, perfect pinot noir, or shining chardonnay. This time, the spotlight is on the shiraz. Selected fruit, estate crafted, 100% french oak treatment through fermentation and 15 months maturation, before final barrel selection is undergone. No stone left unturned, no drop of wine slips by without quality assured. To simply say this overdelivers doesn’t do it justice: this excels in its own category and ones above.

Winner of multiple trophies at the 2011 London International Wine Challenge, Bird in Hand Shiraz strikes a balance between finesse and intensity with flavours of dark red berries and spice. Aged in French oak, it has complex fine grained tannins, finishing long and rich.

Fruit for this cool climate Shiraz was selected from a diverse range of vineyards across the Adelaide Hills. It is deep red in colour with bright purple hues, this wine exhibits lifted and intense aromatics, with ripe and spicy dark fruit characters of blackberry and black plum mixed with a touch of pepper and vanilla bean. A full bodied, elegant wine it shows a balanced acidity and silky tannins culminating in a long finish on the palate.

He grew up in the vineyards of South Australia – and simply knows everybody in the business. Winemaking royalty Matt Koch and Andrea Maxwell make up the other two thirds of this incredibly talented team. Made from a single site on the Southern Range in the Adelaide Hills, the exceptional 96pt Loom Long Yarn Shiraz certainly impressed the judges at the Royal Queensland Wine Awards where it took home a Top Gold. Rich and flavoursome the 2018 Cutlass Single Vineyard Shiraz shows thick cuts of red berry and juicy dark plum with some whole bunch derived perfume and spice.The palate is long and persistent with complex fruit flavours overlaid with fresh toasty French Oak.

This is a lovely, easy flowing shiraz from the Adelaide Hills that also packs a weighty punch - full of dark fruit and raspberry with sweet oak and spice flavours. It's a lovely example of what shiraz from "the Hills" can be - and all from a single block off a small family owned winery.
