Lovely vibrancy and elegance aromas. This Devils Lair Chardonnay has primary aromas of nectarine, melon and citrus. Subtle notes of roasted hazelnut and nougat are intertwined creating a layered and complex wine with great purity. The palate is classic powerful Margaret River, white stone fruit dominates the palate with a vibrant core of citrus and pink grapefruit pith. Delicate use of oak and gentle lees stirring adds a subtle creaminess that overlays a textural and richly flavoured wine. Devils Lair 2017 Chardonnay was hand harvested in early March from selected south easterly facing blocks at the Devils Lair Vineyard. A cool fermentation in French oak barrels was followed by occasional stirring on lees for 9 months. A wine of great vibrancy, layers and flavour. The citrus rind and grapefuit lead the palate to an overall fine yet textural journey. Cape Mentelle Chardonnay had this distinctive minerally line too, apparent with focussed refreshing acidity. Faint nuancesof soft nougat and cashews also add to what is a harmonious balance and an elegant and length finish.

Since taking over the reigns at Cullen in 1989, Vanya Cullen has taken this esteemed winery to new heights including winning for herself the Gourmet Wine Traveller Winemaker of the Year honours along the way. The Mangan Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is the sibling to the Cullen Vineyard version and shares the same level of elegance and flavour precision. Add to that precision an added layer of complexity and texture on the palate and you have what many consider to be Western Australia's premier 'classic dry white'.

Rebus, first vintage 2012, is Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash (5-6%) of Malbec. Separate parcels are fermented and matured in French barriques (40% new) for 12 months. The final wine is a selection of the best barrels and aims to be counted among the best and brightest of Margaret River. Rebus typically shows aromas of cherries, violets and graphite followed by a fleshy palate of redcurrants, plum skin and dark chocolate modulating to licorice, black berries and slate, soft, ripe tannins and a persistent mineral finish.

The Sangiovese fruit was simply destemmed, chilled and pressed using only the free-run fraction of the juice. It was then fermented at moderate temperatures using as always solely indigenous yeasts. After fermentation it was matured for three months on gross lees to add additional texture. The Nebbiolo fruit was hand-picked and, after chilling, whole bunch-pressed directly to old oak for fermentation. This took close to six weeks, after which the wine received a further four weeks maturation in barrel. At this stage the final blend between Sangiovese and Nebbiolo was decided and the wine was emptied from barrel/tank, settled, filtered, sulphured and bottled in late July.We are super stoked with the final wine!!The texture and acid structure are highlights of what is likely a more approachable and fruit-forward release of Nocturne rosé
