Peter Drayton Wildstreak Shiraz

A delicious Hunter Shiraz from a stunning vintage. Peter and his team have really been kicking goals over the last few years. In the glass: Fresh deep red. On the nose: Deluxe oak spice over vanilla, bergamot, red cherry and white pepper. On the palate: Flavour-packed with red and black fruits, lifted black pepper and herb spice, refined and satiny oak before a long finish.

Margan Ceres Hill Hunter Valley Barbera

The first and only Barbera planted in the Hunter. This juicy red has become the biggest seller at Margan's cellar door and the former 2019 vintage took out a Trophy. Rhubarb, cherry and spice on the nose, typical of this Italian varietal. Bright red fruits and savoury spice on the palate, enlivened with a crunchy acidity. Partners with tomato-based dishes and lamb. Medium bodied.

Dalwood Estate Hunter Valley Shiraz

Dalwood Estate Shiraz is from the rich red soils of the Hunter Valley. Current vintage was warm and dry with low yielding and concentrated fruit. Deeply coloured with red fruits and spice followed by a seamless palate with well integrated oak.

Hungerford Hill Classic Hunter Valley Shiraz

Shiraz from the hunter Valley is a distinctive and unique wine which ages gracefully. Vibrant red fruit aromas flow through to a medium bodied palate which is long and seamless. The red plum and black cherry aromas lead to a fruit driven and softly textured palate with background vanillin and spice from oak barrel maturation.

Mercer Wines Hunter Valley Shiraz Nouveau

Pooles Rock Premiere Chardonnay

Picked from a wide cross-section of vineyards across the far reaches of the Hunter Valley. Whole-bunch pressed, directly transferred to French puncheons (40% new) ; a barrel selection was made with deliberate mlf; then matured 9 months with fortnightly batonnage. As complex as they come, but has retained focus and freshness. Alcohol: 12.5%. Closure: screwcap. Date tasted: Mar 2023. Drink: 2023-2028. Price: $48. Rating: 95/100.

PEPPER TREE VENATOR SHIRAZ

Medium bodied with bright red fruit, savoury spice and violet notes. This fruit is balanced with fine layered tannins. A wine for great texture and elegance.

Two Rivers Vigneron's Selection Winter Mist Merlot

This wine is medium ruby red in colour showing aromas of cassis, blackberry and mint with rounded earthy Merlot overtones. The palate is richly balanced showing ripe dark berry fruits with well integrated savoury oak and soft tannins giving this wine a lovely smooth finish.

Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz

The Bishop has the fingerprints of Ben and his father Colin all over it. Ripe, rich, concentrated and supremely complex, the Bishop is the wine for all those full-bodied red fans out there. Ripe liqueur cherries on the nose compete for attention with vanilla, mocha and coffee aromas while the palate is full of sweet berry fruit flavour and a soft, luscious finish that seems to persist for an age. While exuberant and lively when young, the Bishop is known to handle medium term cellaring extremely well and reward any with the patience.

Brokenwood Hunter Valley Shiraz

Brokenwood and the Hunter Valley region is experience somewhat of a renaissance of late. Quality wines for a great prices just like this nice Hunter Shiraz. Typical earthy notes with hints of leather and spice all wrapped around dark brooding plum and cherry fruit. Quality oak imparts a subtle cedar character and fine grained tannins complete the wine that finishes long and smooth.
