Heartland Illicium Cabernet Shiraz Dolcetto

Barossa Valley legend Ben Glaezer grew up in wine, his father Colin was winemaker at Seppelt, and his uncle is John Glaetzer, head winemaker at Wolf Blass for over 30 years. After graduating from Adelaide University’s Roseworthy campus, and a spell at Tyrrell’s, Ben went on to win a number of honours and titles as winemaker of Glaezer wines. The Heartland story began in the late 1990’s when Ben became excited about the outstanding quality of fruit being grown in some of South Australia’s lesser-known regions, in particular Langhorne Creek, where he explored thoroughly along with some winemaking friends. Today Heartland sources all of its fruit exclusively from Langhorne Creek and makes mainly red wines. Ben makes them 100km away at his state of the art Barossa Vintners winery in Tanunda. The Illicium name comes from Illicium Verum, the Latin name for Star Anise. This is a mix of Cabernet, single vineyard Shiraz and a little joyous, juicy Dolcetto. Together they have created a dense extremely fruity red layered with spice, cased in mellow oak.

Angas Plains Estate Brick Red Shiraz

This has all the elements of a quality wine – the presence and power of varietal fruit flavours combined with palate weight to provide depth and length of flavour. Brick Red 2018 Shiraz is a very dark garnet colour. Aromas of red berries and plums with hints of varietal pepper make up this complex bouquet. The palate is well structured with rich sweet berries and plum fruit, integrated with fine tannins making this a rich full bodied wine. Aged in fine oak barrels for 12 months it is now ready to drink. It will show further development with aging over the next 6 years to enrich the wine.

Bleasdale Second Innings Langhorne Creek Malbec

Bremerton Tempranillo/Graciano

The grapes used to craft Bremerton Tempranillo/Graciano were fermented in open top vessels and matured in French as well as American oak barriques. The resulting wine shows a lively red colour, with hints of purple highlighting the edges. This enticing red blend offers a vibrant bouquet and juicy palate filled with dark rose, berry, spice and floral characters. These lush elements are supported by the structural acid as well as natural and elegant tannins, to culminate in a delightful and lingering finale. Crafted to age gracefully over time, this wonderful blend tastes amazing with Spanish cuisine as well as sheep milk cheeses.

Silenus Reserve Black Label Langhorne Creek Shiraz

Langhorne Creek enjoys legendary status in the wine industry because its powerful, distinctive fruit has been the ‘secret weapon’ in many Jimmy Watson winning wines. This lavish Reserve Shiraz shows the region's power and complexity. Rich in flavour and character, it has vibrantly rich fruit (plum, blackberry, boysenberry and raspberry), exotic spice, and the famous Langhorne Creek softness and plushness . Supple, fine-grained tannins and a hint of coconut oak finishes it off beautifully.

Lake Breeze Chapel Road Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon

Traditional open fermentation was employed followed by maturation in French oak barriques for 20 months, prior to bottling. The wine displays a lifted aromatics of black fruits and violets, along with some cedary oak nuances. The concentrated palate has a lovely silky texture, showing chocolate and cassis flavours and a wonderfully long finish.
