Samai Distillery started back in 2014, using the highest quality molasses from local sugar cane to produce their rums along with drops of Cambodian honey. A combination of pot and column distillation is used, the pot still giving a rich spirit full of character and the column providing a light rum to blend. The rums are aged in a combination of French oak, American Bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry casks to create a seamless blend of mature flavours. Nose: Sweet notes of vanilla, molasses and honey. Palate: Hints of oak, vanilla and honey are married together and a slight persisting sweetness. Overall: A great everyday drinking rum for those who like those classic rum flavours with a Cambodian twist.
