The fruit for this distinctive Argentinian malbec was sourced from Agrelo and Lulunta. Agrelo is situated 35 km south of the city of Mendoza. It's terroir is considered to be some of the best for the production of richly flavoured malbec. Lulunta is a sub-region of the famous Mendoza area. It too has a reputation for producing malbecs of quality.The wine remains unoaked to allow the freshness and vibrancy of the deeply flavoured dark fruit to shine.

It’s no surprise this style won Gold. The Barry Family are legends in the Clare Valley, and have used their rich soils and expert skills to produce this truly stunning 100% malbec. Aromas of violets, redcurrants, maraschino cherries and lavender flood the nose. The flavours are plentiful with blueberries, liquorice, violets, dark chocolate and black tea. The wine is full of energy and juicy fruit supported by fine gravelly tannins and fresh cranberry juice acidity. This 100% Malbec shows the potential of the variety to stand on its own and produce a delicious wine with vibrancy and elegance. The first vineyard that my grandfather, Jim Barry, planted in 1964 at our Armagh property was Malbec (900 vines). Since that time, Malbec has played an important part in our winemaking journey and is predominantly blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. This full-bodied Malbec has a bouquet of black ripe fruits, blackcurrant, juniper, blueberry, pepper and cassis complemented with hints of toasted almond and cigar box from French oak. The balanced palate with ripe oak tannins delivers dark chocolate, mint, black currants and cassis. Enjoy now or will reward with cellaring.

This unique Fleurieu Malbec with its distinctive purple colour and intense fruit brightness of red plums, blueberries and undertones of cocoa creates a stylish textural style. The black fruit power provides mouth filling richness with persistent mouth coating tannins.

Malbec is renowned for its value in blends but not often found as a varietal. This fine example from Bleasdale is considered a benchmark for the style. Soft, smooth, toasty oak with great depth of complexity.

The 2016 release builds on that breakthrough style - the wine shows plush generosity but there is a layering of flavours and complexity to this vintage that invites not just a second but third look. Generous, accessible primary fruit sits pretty up front but let the wine breathe and suddenly these dry, fine and lightly chewy tannins build on the back palate, lending a savoury edge to the dark fruit finish of this baby.
