This iconic label by Yalumba has a proud history from it's first release in 1962. Shows more traditional Australian brooding dark fruit character of blackcurrant, stewed cherry and satsuma plum on a backing of liquorice, spice and smoky, bacony oak. Black pepper is infused through the tannin, lending a distinctly savoury edge to the finish. Length is excellent. Luxury is affordable. The Lane Vineyard, near Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, is 400 metres above sea level. Shaped by this altitude and southerly latitudes the cooler climate is ideal for growing grapes destined to become wines of distinction, wines with impressive structure, minerality and natural acidity. North facing single vineyard sites maximize autumn sunlight for later ripening varietals, South facing sites favor aromatic whites and sparkling wines. Significant diurnal temperature variation during grape ripening is a distinguishing feature of this vineyard. Longer sunlight hours and temperate daytime temperatures contribute to intense fruit flavours while the sudden fall in evening temperature preserves natural acidity and structure.

A Quirky name matched with unrivaled concentration make The Bogan Shiraz as must have for all big Australian Shiraz lovers.

Shiraz By Farr is one of Victoria's premier cool-climate Shiraz's, made by the iconic Geelong winemaker, Gary Farr. The nose is incredibly complex showing notes of red and black fruits, spice, black pepper and iodine. In the mouth the wine is incredibly fresh. Wonderfully braced fruit and fine framing tannins and an outstanding length.

Grosset Gaia Cabernet is one distinguished CabernetBring it on! By Gaia standards, its plump and plush with sweet fruit, rich dark chocolate and tannin presence. Gaia is always a wonderful long-term cellaring option, as is the case with the '08, but this vintage the added bonus of up front fruit enables immediate enjoyment.

Made from low yielding vineyards at Moonambel in the Pyreness district of central Victoria, Dalwhinnie is an example of how good Victorian Shiraz can be. Tremendous depth of flavour running the gammet from red currants to dark plums, spice and mineral. The plentiful tannins are absorbed by the fruit and the finish is long and lingering.

Beechworth has carved out a reputation as one of Australia's most amazing, yet largely unknown, wine producing regions. Castagna have crafted a Shiraz of incredible poise and complexity from an outstanding vintage.

The Penfolds Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is a relatively new addition to the Penfolds stable, sourced from the Barossan sub-district, Marananga. Simply a revelation, this wine is an inky, black beast in the glass with lashings of dark chocolate and coffee accented fruit, yet this years offering shows a lingering, soft structured finish that will see the wine cellar very nicely.

A delightful wine that has just reached it's maturity, showing classic Barossa Shiraz power albeit in a more savoury limelight. Earthy and leathery undertones give this wine a point of interest that wasn't there when it was big, young and sweet. Enjoy only with great food and good company.
