The wine reflects the slate and granite soils with strong mineral notes, and fruit flavours of blackberry, Morello cherry. Complex deeper notes of earth and cured meats bring the palate to a long and evenly weighted finish. Strikingly beautiful, the wine shows perfumed aromas of dark plum, mulberry, thyme, clove and roasted hazelnut on the nose, leading to a beautifully refined palate that’s silky and flowing. Seppeltsfield EC403 Grenache Shiraz Mataro, Barossa 2020 From the great Barossan estate of Seppeltsfield comes this evocative blend. The EC403 Grenache Shiraz Mataro features Grenache sourced from the legendary Great Terraced Vineyard. The Shiraz hails from two blocks, one in the Western and one in the Southern end of the Barossa Valley. The Mataro is sourced from a grower vineyard. United, this fruit is an homage to Seppeltsfields East Cellar bottlings of the 1960s. Expect a deep, concentrated GSM with firm and abundant tannins. Pure fruit and graphite mingle with a gorgeous fresh acidity.

This is serious shiraz, mofo. Coming from one of our favourite Barossa producers who were established well over 100 years ago! As for this particular wine, after the grapes are picked at perfect ripeness to give voluptuous fruit quality, which sees a couple of years in new and seasoned French oak barrels. The resulting wine is dark and deep, with blueberries, spice and a touch of white pepper on the nose. The palate is full of fine tannins and rich red cherries and plums. It’s not just a mofo fave - it’s an all round consumer fave bringing in an impressive 4.1 rating on Vivino; Certainly not something you see every day.
