Intense garnet red colour, the nose features fragrant aromas of cassis and blackberry with hints of vanilla. With the acid vein that sustains, the tannin that weaves and the pulp of fruit that everything harmoniously wraps and contains, the mouthfeel is majestic with notes of cherries, clove, licorice, sweet tannins and long finish. Great companion for game, roasted red meats, mature cheeses and salami. Very suitable also as an after dinner drink.

Black Maiden Byzantium (Feteascã Neagrã)

The “Byzantium” range embodies the extraordinary nuances of the flourishing Empire that will utterly conquer and ennoble you by authenticating the nod to wine appreciation of the historical saying that “Byzantium conquers all with its wine. Dealu Mare Region (or Big Hill) lies on the 45° parallel, sharing the same latitude with Bordeaux and Piemonte areas; it is the most compact wine region in Romania where the grapes enjoy the perfect combination of warm days and cool nights. The typical warm, dry microclimate and the rather long autumns favour a slow and thorough ripening of the grapes. There is a long vegetation time of 210-240 days with a maximum humidity of 55-80%. The soil here is chernozems and clay, strewn with marine fossils. The elegant Byzantium wines are originated in this exceptional region, having the Protected designation of origin Dealu Mare. “Byzantium Rosso” embodies the “opulence” of the Byzantine era with a robust and complex structure. Deep ruby red in colour, the wine reveals intense aromas of ripe forest fruits and black plums deriving from the indigenous variety of Feteascã Neagrã (Black Maiden), as well as red and black pepper deriving from the Shiraz. The aromas are well integrated with vanilla and chocolate notes and refined oak-wood. The finish is prolonged with crisp mint and violet notes structured by the Cabernet Franc. Food pairing: This well balanced red wine is the ideal companion to roast beef and chicken, stew and lamb. Its versatility delights your senses in any venison combination. Serving temperature, 16-18 ° Celsius.

Langmeil Orphan Bank Shiraz

Full bodied yet velvety texture with plums and raspberries dominating. Hints of sweet spice, black olive pepper add to the complexity.

Yarra Yering Dry Red No 2

From some of the earliest plantings of Shiraz in the Yarra Valley with vines dating back to 1969. Shiraz (96%) co-fermented with small parcels of Viognier, Marsanne and Mataro aged 12 to 18 months in 50% new French oak barrels produces a wine that is perfumed and feminine with the tannins and acidity as integral to the wine as the fruit. Château Ducluzeau Bordeaux

Chateau Ducluzeau is owned by Bruno Borie, owner of the iconic Second Growth Ducru Beaucaillou in St Julien. The 10ha vineyard in Listrac being planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (the highest percentage of Merlot in the entire appellation). Classic Bordeaux through and through - with beautiful notes of liquorice, rose, plum and blackberry.

Teusner Albert Shiraz

Teusner Albert Shiraz is made from old vines in the northern Barossa; rich black fruits and tarry cassis with smoky undertones, the finish is long and luscious. Could easily be cellared for the medium term.

Maretti Barolo

A wonderful Barolo from Maretti showcasing great value for the region. The colour is dark garnet with ruby highlights. It has a clear-cut, intense nose with overtones of roses, spices, earthy undertones with nuanced vanilla notes. The taste is dry, but soft, full-bodied, velvety and well balanced, and is very long-lasting. Classic Barolo like this works well with rich braised meat dishes or a mushroom risotto.
