Knappstein Clare Valley Shiraz
The 2018 Shiraz is full of brambles and blue/black fruits with a spicy lift. Layers of brooding dark fruits, spice and savoury characters are framed in fine oak. The sinewy tannin profile pulls the wine through to a long and moreish finish.
Kilikanoon Morrison Shiraz Cabernet
The Morrison Shiraz vineyard, for which the wine is named, is situated directly across from Kilikanoon's winery in the Clare Valley sub-region of Leasingham. The Cabernet Sauvignon with which it is blended lies on the opposite ridge, a spectacular vineyard which glistens gold in the morning sun. Basket pressed into new and seasoned French oak barrels for 16 months. It is silky and fragrant, with hints of mint and pepper and "It's in very good shape... 94pts" (Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion).

It's an excellent example of what the Adelaide Hills can do with Shiraz. Sweet cherries, an array of roasted nut and deli meat characters, plum-filled depths and rounds of black pepper, cloves, anise and gum leaf. It's complex, full bodied, structured and moreish. 95pts. Vandenberg Six Brothers Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir
Savour a very appealing silky, elegant, Gold medal, 93pt Pinot Noir from vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. “Combining ripe fruit notes with savoury nuances, the wine shows dark berry, bay leaf, cured meat and toasted almond characters on the nose. The palate displays elegant weight and fine flow, well supported by silky texture and polished tannins, finishing persistent and complex.93pts” (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit).
Mr Riggs Shiraz
Made by Rockstar winemaker Ben Riggs, the McLaren Vale Shiraz is as true an expression as one could hope for. The fifth release of the wine is based around a core of pristine fruit with dark red berries, hints of spice, earth, tar and leather and with seamlessly integrated oak. Ripe tannins are apparent but not overwhelming, meaning this is a wine which can be enjoyed now or in the next 10-15 years.
Sidewood Shiraz
Tucked away nicely in the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood Estate have made an art form out of crafting some of the very best single vineyard cool-climate wines available in Australia. Owen and Cassandra Inglis purchased the boutique property in 2004 and immediately set about making their vision become a reality. Their Sidewood Shiraz displays that vision to perfection. Attention to detail is the key here which enables flavours of red cherry, currants and dark plum to shine through along with hints of cinnamon and spice. The texture is beguiling and gives promise to a wine that will age for up to a decade.
Yeringberg Shiraz
This classic Yarra Valley Shiraz from Yeringberg is showing those trademark Shiraz characters of cracked black pepper and great fruit weight, there is also some good concentration and a long powdery tannin finish.
