This block of D2V5 clone has long proven an integral component of our Estate Pinot Noir blend, consistently contributing a light touch of prettiness, perfume and poise to marry with the routinely more robust elements provided by our MV6 clonal blocks. As an extension of our explorations into the possibilities of future ‘fits’ for our vineyard plantings in the face of the steadily evolving and warming climate, we are also delving into the world of clonal variation in Pinot Noir. Trial and subsequent selection of suitable clones beyond the omnipresent and, so far, unsurpassed Yarra Valley ‘workhorse’ MV6 clone may well throw a lifeline in extending the ongoing viability of this noble variety on the Valley floor. As a first step in this process, we chose to feature the north facing D2V5 clone as a singular wine. This wine walks a tense line between savoury and sweet-fruited characters. It bears a brightness of colour with an intensity of varietal fruit. Aromas of black cherry and char, rose petals and baked clay abound, with darker elements of clove, nutmeg, coffee and damp earth. The palate features flavours of sarsaparilla, Aleppo pepper, and porcini mushroom powder. Miso and cocoa nib surf a subliminal stemmy note. Clonal particularity accentuated by a soft guiding hand in the winemaking delivers a promising steppingstone in a future represent for this clone in our closely entwined Yarra Valley floor climatic and clonal future.

This wine takes its stylistic and varietal cues from the intense, dry and savoury styles of France’s Southern Rhône Valley where Grenache Noir is overwhelmingly the main variety utilized in rosé and red wine production.The 2022 vintage Glen Garvald Rosérepresents our continuing foraysinto tapping into the potential of Grenache and its sun-loving Mediterranean stablemates as stand-alonevarieties and malleable blends as potential future mainstay’s of the Yarra Valley. Featuring beguiling aromas of orange zest, ginger, musk, granite, alfalfa, charcuterie and crème anglais, the palate follows with pronounced vibrant flavours of blood orange, cardamom, fennel and spice. Overall the colour is vibrant, the aroma bold and enticing, the palate draws long, juicy & textural indicating a very promising long game for this style and blend in our Valley. Victoria's first vineyard is a landmark in the Yarra Valley and an icon of the Australian wine industry. Loads of lovely Pinot character on the nose with ripe cherry gamey notes and hints of "forest floor". Silky in texture the lingering flavour is enhanced by a touch of oak.

A selected blend of cool-climate Pinot Noir from our premium vineyard sites. Whole berry bunch fermented and matures in French oak casks for 9 months, displaying classic yarra Valley fragrance, texture and elegance.

Bannockburn Shiraz is a multi-layered wine showing blackberry, black cherry and spice on the nose which follow through to the palate. Soft tannins and medium length.

In the glass: Light to medium red. On the nose: Light and ethereal strawberry, earth and forest floor.On the palate: Beautiful texture with a juicy core of red fruit and charry oak. So seamless and long with velvety tannins, silken persistence and drive. Stunning with so much varietal charm.

Deep red purple. Intense bouquet of white pepper, spice and abundant black and red fruits leading to slightly sappy whole bunch notes. Medium bodied palate, with savoury dark berry fruit characters, licorice, spice and white pepper notes. Ripe tannins and well-integrated French oak. Balanced acidity, and a long savoury finish. Shiraz was destemmed, (with 20% included as whole bunches) and then fermented using wild yeast in small open vats peaking at 30 degrees C with extended maceration on skins post ferment. Pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation and matured in French oak barriques (30% new) for 16 months and bottled in August 2018.Enjoy now with food or cellar for 5 to 15 years.
