Izway Don Oscar & Matilda
Product Description: Elegance shaped by heritage and precision defines the Izway Don Oscar & Matilda 2019, a Barossa Valley Shiraz that pays tribute to family lineage while expressing a distinctly modern sense of balance. Sourced from mature vines grown in carefully managed sites, the wine reflects Izway’s minimal-intervention approach, allowing fruit clarity and vineyard character to remain at the forefront. The 2019 vintage provided steady, favourable conditions, resulting in fruit of excellent concentration supported by natural freshness; a hallmark of structured, cellar-worthy Barossa Shiraz. In the glass, the wine reveals both depth and composure, avoiding excess while delivering impressive flavour authority. Whole-bunch inclusion contributes aromatic complexity and fine structural tension, while maturation in French oak enhances texture without dominating the profile. Layers of dark fruit unfold alongside savoury undertones, creating a wine that feels deliberate and confidently proportioned. Its tannin framework is firm yet polished, guiding the palate toward a long, persistent conclusion. There is an architectural precision to the wine, suggesting both immediate appeal with decanting and significant ageing potential for the patient collector. Named in honour of Oscar and Matilda, a nod to generational continuity, this Shiraz captures the meeting point of tradition and contemporary craftsmanship. It is a compelling partner to slow-cooked meats, richly flavoured dishes, or moments that call for a wine of presence and quiet sophistication. Tasting Notes NOSE – Concentrated and lifted Aromas of black cherry, mulberry, and plum intertwine with violet, cracked pepper, clove, and hints of graphite.
