Matthiasson Phoenix Vineyard Cabernet

MATTHIASSON Phoenix Vineyard Cabernet, Napa Valley The Phoenix Vineyard was planted back in 1982 on the steep hillside above the winery. They used old heritage field selections of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Mattiasson converted to Organic Farming, planting new vines where some of the old vines had given up. The rock content and sea minerals of the soils create unique wines with high-toned red fruits, perfumed and exotic, with a lightness in the mid-palate yet a long, firm, and structured finish. Its singular enough, yet complete enough, to be worthy of a single vineyard designation.

Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No.1 Cabernets

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No.1 Yarra Valley Cabernet A feature of the Langton’s Classification since its 1990 inception, “No . 1” remains one of Australia’s most sought-after Bordeaux style blends. It is principally a Cabernet Sauvignon affair, with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot playing supporting roles. Described as a “classic claret-style”, it features bright, blackcurrant fruit characters, savoury complexity and fine-grained tannins. Originally made by the late great Dr Bailey Carrodus, this flagship of the Yarra has been in the hands of Sarah Crowe (James Halliday’s 2016 Winemaker of the Year) since the 2013 vintage.

Chateau Pavie, Les Aromes de Pavie(second wine by Pavie)

CHATEAU PAVIE, Les Aromes de Pavie(second wine by Pavie), St-Emilion A Merlot-dominant blend featuring Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is among Bordeaux’s best second wines. Introduced in 2005 by Pavie’s winemaker, Gérard Perse, Les Aromes de Pavie inherits four hectares of vineyard from the château’s grand vin. Made with the same care and aged on 50% new French oak, Les Aromes comes with all the elegance of the flagship: a rich, full-bodied drop. It’ll easily age well over 20 years, but give it 5 in the bottle at the very least.
