Pirathon Blue Shiraz
Pirathon Blue Barossa Valley Shiraz The fruit for the Pirathon Blue Shiraz is sourced from low-yielding vineyards of traditional family growers in the north-western Barossa districts of Greenock, Moppa, Belvidere, Koonunga and Ebenezer. Each vineyard is harvested separately when the fruit is readythis can take up to two months. After picking, each parcel of fruit is crushed separately into open-top fermenters. During fermentation, hand pump-overs gently extracted colour and flavour from the grapes. The juice is fermented on skins for a week or more and pumped over by hand. After pressing, new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads are filled and the wine is allowed to mature approximately two years. After this time the wine is blended and bottled without fining. Shop Pirathon

Penumbra by Colin Glaetzer Old Vine Shiraz
Deep rich in colour with sweet ripe fruit and hints of oak on the nose. The palate has all the depth and structure of a premium Barossa Shiraz with good concentration of flavour and overall balance. The word penumbra means a partial shadow, such as an eclipse, between regions of complete light and shadow. The notion of light and shade forming interesting patterns and effects can be clearly likened to the craft of winemaking, where the many nuances involved in making a fine wine are often not easily defined as black and white, but in skilfully utilising the grey areas. The Glaetzer family makes unique and elegant wines that are regarded as classics and are unmistakably from the Barossa Valley. This wine from vines 35-70 years old exhibits great intensity of colour and flavour with a nose of dark fruits, chocolate and spice. Very soft and elegant on the palate, typical of the great Shiraz wines of the Barossa. While drinking beautifully now, this wine will reward with medium term cellaring. With a family history in the Barossa Valley dating back to 1888, Glaetzer Wines was established by Colin Glaetzer after 30 years of winemaking experience. Son Ben worked in the Hunter Valley and as a Flying Winemaker in many of the worlds wine regions before returning to Glaetzer Wines and assuming the winemaking role. The wines are made with great skill and abundant personality.

Hentley Farm The Marl Shiraz
Hentley Farm is a boutique, single estate vineyard that focuses on producing premium quality single-estate and single-block wines reflective of their exceptional Barossan terrior. 'The Marl' takes its name from the fruit grown on red clay loam over marl (a friable earthy deposit consisting of clay and limestone) which reduces the water and nutrient availability producing low crops and rich flavours. True to the style, the Shiraz is layered with berry fruits with hints of dark chocolate, earth and subtle spice. While full-bodied the palate is soft with lovely lingering finish.
Langmeil Hangin' Snakes Shiraz

This release of the Hangin' Snakes Shiraz is placed right in the 'wheel house' for those lovers of the powerful and intense. Attractive plush blackberries, full flavoured with silky perfumed tannins; a mouth filling wine of great poise.
Kilikanoon Kavel's Flock Shiraz
Back in the 1840s, Pastor Kavel led the Lutherans on their journey to the Barossa Valley to embark on a new life of religious freedom. From that mass migration a dynasty began. This Kilikanoon Shiraz, exclusive to Dan Murphy's, pays homage to this great history with a red of supreme power and concentration. Robust flavours of raspberry and earthen spice completed by subtle, ripe tannins give the wine balanced complexity and a nice length of flavour. Kavel's Flock is a continuation of an immense Kilikanoon legacy that has recently seen it awarded the James Halliday Winery of the Year for 2013.
