Hakushu 18 Year Old Japanese Whisky

From Suntory's mountain forest distillery, Hakushu Whisky is the fresh and gently smoky single malt whisky with herbal notes that is the revelation of Japanese single malts. Hakushu 18 Year Old has a fresh deep aroma from long maturation resulting in a milk caramel and honey-like flavour on the palate and ripened fruit finish.

Suntory Whisky Hibiki 21 Year Blended Whisky - Mount Fuji Limited Edition

Hibiki is a meticulous blend of the finest malt and grain whiskies carefully selected from three Suntory distilleries: Yamazaki (Japan's first distillery), Hakushu (the mountain forest distillery), the Chita distillery (where grain whiskies are produced). Suntory artisans perfect this harmonious blend to create a full symphony of delicate flavours and blossoming aromas. The HIBIKI bottle is embellished with 24 facets. Each facet symbolises the traditional Japanese lunar calendar celebrating the 24 hours within the 24 seasons of the year. The label is made from pure Echizen Washi, a traditional Japanese paper, designed by the artist Eriko Horiki. Each washi is carefully handcrafted using authentic materials and traditional Japanese methods. The "HIBIKI" kanji was written by the renowned calligrapher Tansetsu Ogino, accentuating the elegance of the washi. This Suntory Whisky "HIBIKI 21 year" has Mt. Fuji drawn in austere black and white with Japanese Plum, Pine and Bamboo painted on its skirts - symbolising felicitations, wishing happiness and good fortunes. Also echoed is the Japanese sensitivity to the transience of seasons. Deeply aromatic, quintessentially Japanese and aesthetically, the design is fitting for "HIBIKI", envisions "live in harmony with people and nature".

Hibiki Suntory Whisky Aged 21 Years

Apart from Single Malts, Suntory also produces a premium series of blended whiskies under the label 'Hibiki' (meaning 'harmony'), usually containing a high proportion of Single Malt (upwards of 50% according to one of the company's blenders). Thirty different malts are employed from Suntory's three distilleries, most with an age well above 21 years. Hibiki 21 Year Old was, yet again, selected as the best-blended whisky in the world at the World Whisky Awards 2017. Hibiki has been awarded every year at the WWA since 2009. The judges described it as being Elegant, sweet and complex. This whisky is full of dried fruit, orange peel, strawberry jam, and baked apple from start to finish. Smooth, subtle and fairly short. Obvious collector appeal here, but we'd like to imagine this one being appreciated for what's inside the bottle. 43% Alc./Vol.

Jura Vintage Single Malt Whisky

Shining a light on the distillery’s exceptional spirit from a bygone era, Jura Rare Vintage 1990 is a rich and lively single malt, reflective of the character now synonymous with our island and its tiny island community. Distilled on 5th December 1990 as cool winter temperatures prevailed, the Jura grassy new make spirit was filled into American White Oak ex bourbon barrels to slowly mature for 26 years, before being finished for a further three years in an Amoroso Oloroso Sherry butt. Crafted from non-peated barley and bottled at 46.5%, this incredible whisky is non-chill-filtered and natural in colour.

Château Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan

Simply a wine of true perfection. 2009 in Bordeaux has bestowed many a Châteaux with a wine for the ages and in iconic estates like Château Haut-Brion, the wines have been lifted to 'nirvana-ish' levels. One wouldn't be adverse to simply sitting on the nose of this wine for hours without having a want to taste it such is the complexity and aromatic waves that are present. In the mouth though, this Pessac-Léognan boasts flavours of cigar, raspberries, plums, figs and blueberries with a finish that seems to go on for decades. Breathtakingly stunning.

Bouchard Pere & Fils

Chateau Latour 1er cru classe

The formidable fortress depicted on the famed vanilla Latour label was built to withstand the Gironde pirate attacks of the 15th Century. And, truly, as well as the tower still stands, so does Latour and its consistent excellence regardless of vintage. Nominally Pauillac, this First Growth sits almost astride the border of St. Julien and its output as one would expect is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with 10 per cent awarded to both Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Any experience with Latour is to be savoured with patience this notoriously slow-developing wine requires at least a decade or twos development. But the reward for this patience is a fulsome melange of power, finesse, depth and tone.
