In Margaret River, considered one of Australia's premium chardonnay growing regions, Cape Mentelle creates wines of plush texture, depth and power, yet balanced with a fine frame of acidity. This Chardonnay is predominantly from our Chapman Brook Vineyard,established in 1994 in the cool southern half of Margaret River. The cooler climate captures the freshness and vibrancy of the variety. Yellow hay with a bright gold hue. A tropical nose of yellow peaches, melon and mandarin. Generous fruit intensity on the flowing palate, rich with rock melon, pistachio, lemon curd and orange blossom, lifting with a zesty, crisp acidity.

Located in the heart of Western Australia’s renowned Margaret River wine region, the Pierro locality, owned and managed by Dr Mike Peterkin, has a viticultural pedigree second to none. Besides making award-winning Chardonnay of distinctive character, Mike also produced the first Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend in Australia. The Pierro reds are now among the very best in the region. Each parcel is hand-picked, chilled, hand-sorted and whole bunch pressed. There are multiple picks for this wine. With the first batches being picked for aromatic complexity and acidity, and the latter being picked for flavour and texture. Each batch is kept separate and inoculated with different yeasts depending on the variety and date picked. During this time a quarter of the wine is fermented in French oak barriques for 2-3 months for mouthfeel and texture. These different elements combine as a whole to provide an incredible amount of complexity to the final wine. The separate batches are then combined and left on fermentation lees for 3-4 months prior to bottling. A light dry wine, delicious when young but has the capacity and backbone to mature and develop in the bottle. Flavours of citrus, pear, green apple, melon and tropical fruit. Fresh, crisp and dry with both complexity and elegance. An ideal accompaniment to seafood and white meat dishes.

Forester Estate focuses on showcasing the distinct regional characters of Margaret River fruit. Made by globally trained winemaker Todd Payne, this is a style of Chardonnay that has re-awakened the variety's popularity with consumers. Devils Lair 2017 Chardonnay was hand harvested in early March from selected south easterly facing blocks at the Devils Lair Vineyard. A cool fermentation in French oak barrels was followed by occasional stirring on lees for 9 months. A wine of great vibrancy, layers and flavour. Barrel fermentation and maturation in French oak barriques with partial malolactic has imparted texture and complexity to the minerally grapefruit flavours of this Chardonnay from WA's south-west corner.

Ferngrove Wines, in Frankland River, is one of the world's most isolated wine estate. While this isolation makes the logistics of wine-making tough, it is also what makes Ferngrove wines distinctly different. This Chardonnay is aromatic, complex lemon zest, pear skin and pink grapefruit in harmony with complex toasty French oak and toasted nuts. Piercing grapefruit, lime and pear with a creamy texture and vanilla French oak with lingering mineral acidity.
