Seppeltsfield The Westing Shiraz Barossa The Grounds wines from Seppeltsfield focus on the sub-regionality of the Barossa. The name is derived from the Barossa Grounds project. This was a comprehensive study of the districts sub-regionality led by the Barossa Grape & Wine Association. The fruit is sourced from single-site, estate-owned vineyards. 'Seppeltsfield, under the ownership of entrepreneur and winemaker Warren Randall, has undergone a remarkable transformation.' The fruit for The Westing is sourced from the Western Grounds Vineyard Seppeltsfield V Block. The Westing is vinified through Seppeltsfields historic 1888 Gravity Cellar. The fruit is fermented in open fermenters and matured for 14 months in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads. The Westing is a full-bodied Shiraz in the classic Barossa style. The wine is intense ruby red in colour and displays classic forest berry fruit aromas. The ripe berry fruits overlaying spicey oak characters which support and add structure to the wine. The aromatic blackberry and blueberry fruits carry to the palate which is opulent and a classic representation of the region. This wine will continue to mature until at least 2036 if stored correctly. Grapes were sourced from Becker Vineyard in the Koonunga sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Four generations of the Becker Family owned the small vineyard until it was recently purchased by the Hoffmann family. The vineyard is sited on deeper loam soils over red clays that follow a small creek that runs through the property.
Henschke Keyneton Euphonium (CLR)
Keyneton Euphonium is a beautiful composition of shiraz from up to 50-year-old vines growing in the Eden and Barossa Valleys, blended with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc from selected vineyards in both regions. A classy red from an iconic producer. Deep garnet with pale garnet hues. Lifted aromas of red plum, mulberry, blackcurrant and black pepper, with supporting notes of thyme, bay leaf, charcuterie and cedary oak. A concentrated and powerful palate of mouth-watering ripe plum, blackberry and black and red currant, balanced by savoury white pepper, anise and tarragon, fresh and buoyant acidity and an exceptionally long, fine tannin finish.
