David Hook Orange Vermentino

Vermentino is widely planted throughout the Mediterranean, often along the shore lines of both coasts and islands, where it produces bright clean lively wines with classic sea spray and wild herb characters. The variety has good acidity and can be made in several styles. The lighter aromatic style achieved with light pressing and cool fermentations generally without skin contact or oak maturation highlights the varieties fresh fruit and acidity. The grapes for our 2022 Vermentino are frome the Central Ranges grown at altitude on the slopes of Mount Canobolas at Orange. The wine was stored on lees in tank for 3 months prior to bottling. The resulting wine is pale straw in colour with slight green tinges. It has aromas of orange blossom, ripe nashi and a flinty background. The palate is rich with ripe citrus flavour and the wine finishes with a touch of salinity and a slight pithy grapefruit bitterness. The perfect wine with grilled sardines.

Freycinet Riesling

Freycinet Riesling is pale straw in colour with a bouquet of orange blossom and honey that makes for immediate appeal. The palate is tightly structured with long citrus and grapefruit flavours. A real keeper!

Mesh Eden Valley Riesling

The wine is green and vibrant in appearance, with aromas of zesty lemon and grapefruit. An intense and generous palate, with lively citrus fruit and hints of talc. The wine finishes clean and dry with refreshing, long acidity. As is the case with all great Eden Valley Rieslings, mesh will age gracefully and reliably into a mature wine under the Stelvin closure.

Robert Stein Half Dry Riesling

A touch more residual sugar than normal in this vintage, to ensure it stays within the half-dry category. Once again showing those great lemon/lime citrus characters, with a nice pop of fruit which is balanced out nicely by the crisp, clean acidity. This Single Vineyard Half Dry Riesling was handpicked in the early morning from the bottom half of our Riesling block and whole bunch pressed. Fermentation was cool and slow, with the ferment being stopped at 15 grams residual sugar. The wine was left in tank on lees for a further 4 months, stirring occasionally for further palate texture. The Robert Stein Vineyard and cellar door is located just a short drive from the centre of Mudgee, in the Central West of New South Wales. Robert Stein Vineyard and Winery is one of Mudgee's premier labels, established in 1976 and now in its third generation of expertise. Winemaker Jacob Stein has worked in many regions around the world including Germany, Italy, Canada and Margaret River in Western Australia. His experience abroad has brought wealth of new technique and theories and is working well to maintain the traditions and quality of all wines made at Robert Stein. Robert Stein produces a wide range of single vineyard wines, made solely from their 70 acre vineyard. The exposure of the brand and quality of wines has rapidly increased, with Jacob Stein at the Helm. Jacob was awarded the Gourmet Traveller Young Winemaker of the Year award in 2012, further proof of his achievements in Mudgee. Robert Stein Winery has also been consecutively awarded a James Halliday 5 star winery in The Wine Companion since 2010.

Glaetzer-Dixon überblanc Riesling

The überblanc Riesling is attributed to a über 2001 vintage, winemaker Nick Glaetzer experienced in the Pflaz region of Germany, learning first hand some of the award winning techniques used by their winemakers. Tasmanian grapes sourced for the wine display the core elements, highly regarded by the Pflaz winemakers for or elegantly structured and balanced Riesling. Delicate lime zest and floral aromas fill the glass. Further citrus flavours develop on the fresh mineral structure, enhanced by the juicy fruit flavours.
