Elegant and medium bodied, Indigene by Spinifex is a Shiraz Mataro blend typically displaying ripe red and black complemented by forest floor and savoury undertones hinting of the Old World. The fruit is sourced from selected vineyards averaging in age between 60-100 years, providing the blend with impressive intensity and depth of flavour. Following traditional vinification, the wine is aged in seasoned French oak.

This superb single-vineyard Shiraz is sourced from a six-acre plot that was replanted in 2001. Sadly, the original 1912 vineyard was ripped out in the mid-1980s thanks to the SA governments now-notorious vine pull scheme. Here in the Moppa sub-region the grapes grow on sandier soils than in Greenock (a mere 2km away as the crow flies) producing more perfumed wines with finer tannins. This release is no exception. The fruit was harvested on the 22nd of February and was 100% de-stemmed. The whole berries were sent to small open-top fermenters, and were hand-plunged three times per day. After 18 days on skins the wine was basket pressed into barrel. The wine rested for 20 months in French (25% new) and American hogsheads.

At the foot of the iconic Kaiserstuhl mountain, the early Silesian settlers of the Barossa constructed a stone altar a sanctuary for prayer in their new homeland. Plush and ripe on the nose and in the mouth with Blackberry richness tempered with a mineral-savoury like tone. This Shiraz is a handsomely proportioned wine, abundant in flavour concentration. The tannins and acid bring structure and freshness to the pure fruit flavours that drives down the length of the palate, and returns balance across the whole mouth-feel and weight – making this a lighter wine than the nose suggested.

Our take on the classic Barossa Shiraz, this wine has a inky purple colour with a deep red hue. Aromas of dark plum, wild berries and chocolate/coffee. Medium to full bodied the palate is rich and voluptuous, with the classic dark red fruits and smooth silky tannins. As our flagship wine, it has great capacity to age and will continue to soften and develop more secondary & tertiary characters.
