It was whole bunch pressed to new and one-year-old French oak, and the balance with the fruit is absolutely spot on. Aromas of melon, lemon rind, and light smoky cashew. The palate has a lively energy with an intense minerally fruit character supported with fine chalky acidity and some superfine oak.

A classic Peninsula Chardonnay with richness and complexity and underlying elegance. Peach and tropical fruit aromas combine well with nutty creamy oak and the palate is full flavoured and long.

In Margaret River, considered one of Australia's premium chardonnay growing regions, Cape Mentelle creates wines of plush texture, depth and power, yet balanced with a fine frame of acidity. This Chardonnay is predominantly from our Chapman Brook Vineyard,established in 1994 in the cool southern half of Margaret River. The cooler climate captures the freshness and vibrancy of the variety. Yellow hay with a bright gold hue. A tropical nose of yellow peaches, melon and mandarin. Generous fruit intensity on the flowing palate, rich with rock melon, pistachio, lemon curd and orange blossom, lifting with a zesty, crisp acidity.

All Cullen Wines are grown on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Grapes are harvested by hand on fruit and flower days according to the astrological calendar. The wines have no additions of yeast, acid or malolactic culture, and are in this sense natural wines which express the place and land on which they are grown, the vintage and the people.

The elegant nose has matured, allowing the luxurious notes of roasted cashew, almond meal, and subtle spice to rise to the forefront, perfectly complementing the soft, integrated citrus and floral hints. On the palate, the immense purity of youth has evolved into a delicately layered, full mouthfeel defined by sesame seed and blanched almonds. The fine mineral spine is now a commanding feature, ensuring the wine retains a powerful persistence and finishes with polished structure.
