The Derwent River has created an exceptional vineyard site with marine influences on 3 sides of the vineyard along with the stoney and silt soils providing ideal conditions for this textured and elegant Chardonnay.

Delicate and gentle notes of cooler climate fruits fill the nose; wet stones, chalk, fine citrus zest and orange blossom. The palate is lissom and has a mineral water like weight as citrus fruits mingle with toasted nut-meal and caramel. A fine and soft acidity retains levity and gives length and crispness to finish this Chardonnay by Marchand and Burch.

Many of us wine drinkers have a soft spot for Chablis. Its with great reason too, given our climate and affi nity with seafood. A little over two months ago, we were thrilled when this wine hit our shores for the first time following a selective buying trip. Once again, it showcased its undisputed quality and notoriety in our tasting sessions. Established in 1850, this small family owned domain is the proven choice of so many when it comes to great Chablis. The estate comprises a mere 45 hectares of vines scattered throughout the region, grown on the famous Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Textbook in expression and style, super fi ne and elegant, this 2013 has perfectly poised, piercing acidity. This drives superb length of flavour on the featherweight light palate. This doesn't have the flashy oak and sulphide aspects which often characterised his critically acclaimed Chardonnays at Eden Road, this is a gentler, more streamlined version of the variety which showcases the purity of fruit from this cool nsw region.

This Limited Release Chardonnay from Tumbarumba in Southern NSW is from the esteemed Wondalma vineyard. Limited, because we only make this label in exceptional years, from exceptional single vineyards. It reveals a subtle yet alluring bouquet, with delicate hints of lemon and ginger cream emerging from a backdrop of carefully balanced new and old oak. On the palate, the wine's neatly integrated acidity provides a refreshing lift to its restrained flavours, giving way to a refined and elegant texture. Enjoyable now for its quiet complexity, this Chardonnay will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 5 to 10 years, offering further character as it matures.
