If we’re honest, there’s not a single reason that we don’t love Sidewood. They’re far from being one-trick ponies (although everyone can find a favourite in their range). This is everything you’d expect from a quality Clare Valley cabernet. It’s leafy and cedary with mulberry, black olive and herbal notes. Impeccably structured, it has just the right balance of plush fruit richness and fine tannin; a magic combination of power and elegance.

The Knappstein name remains a hallmark of quality and we are excited and proud today to announce the official launch of the delicious Spring Farm Shiraz Cabernet, which unites the two red grapes for which the Clare Valley is rightly famous. Today you have the opportunity to enjoy it at its special Summer Launch price. Michael Kane, Chief Winemaker at Knappstein has a love for wine, and travel that has led him to visit and work across the world – Burgundy, Champagne, Oregon, Napa and Central Otago, and he has crafted many award-winning wines for celebrated brands such as Devil’s Lair, Stella Bella and Wolf Blass. The team at Knappstein consider themselves guardians of the vines, most of which are in excess of 50 years. They adopt a minimal intervention approach in the vineyard with the aim to create wines of real personality and unique regionality while maintaining rigorous high standards of sustainability.

This wine defines charisma! Juicy plum and dark cherry fruits combine with licks of mint and fennel that overlay a slatey-granite earthiness. It’s a deep, dark, dangerously intense Cabernet with integrated tannins and dense dark fruits wound up in savoury spice. The wine show judges and critics are consistently awarding the Black Magic Woman Reserve Cabernet Gold – again and again and again!

It’s no surprise this style won Gold. The Barry Family are legends in the Clare Valley, and have used their rich soils and expert skills to produce this truly stunning 100% malbec. Aromas of violets, redcurrants, maraschino cherries and lavender flood the nose. The flavours are plentiful with blueberries, liquorice, violets, dark chocolate and black tea. The wine is full of energy and juicy fruit supported by fine gravelly tannins and fresh cranberry juice acidity. This 100% Malbec shows the potential of the variety to stand on its own and produce a delicious wine with vibrancy and elegance. The first vineyard that my grandfather, Jim Barry, planted in 1964 at our Armagh property was Malbec (900 vines). Since that time, Malbec has played an important part in our winemaking journey and is predominantly blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. Jim Barry Watervale Riesling from the Clare Valley is all about the musk, bracing acidity and juicy limes. This perennial favourite Riesling never misses a beat, marrying concentration with finesse, current drinking pleasure with cellar-worthy wow factor. Expect this wine to develop over ten years into a superb wine experience.

Bright red berry fruits of raspberry and strawberry. Blackberry and plum fill the front palate, with a nice layer of spice in the middle with just the right amount of soft French oak tannins at the back.

Made by Rockstar winemaker Ben Riggs, the McLaren Vale Shiraz is as true an expression as one could hope for. The fifth release of the wine is based around a core of pristine fruit with dark red berries, hints of spice, earth, tar and leather and with seamlessly integrated oak. Ripe tannins are apparent but not overwhelming, meaning this is a wine which can be enjoyed now or in the next 10-15 years.
