Sangiovese is Italy's most widely planted variety and responsible for some of its greatest wines from Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. Wines made from this variety are elegant and forceful with alluring aromas of plums and dried underbrush with fresh cherry and earthy flavours medium tannins and bright acidity.These Sangiovese grapes were grown on Mount Canobolas in the Orange region The vines are 15 years old and the yields are low less than 2 tonnes per acre. This is achieved by meticulous hand pruning and crop thinning and removing all unripe and damaged grapes before harvest.Harvest date: 13th March 2017The fruit was warm fermented in traditional open vats which were hand plunged. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 18 months prior to blending.This wine is light brick red in colour, with bright purple hues. With aromas of fresh cherry typical of the variety, the palate delivers savoury fruit and a smooth finish.Perfect with pizza, pasta and antipasto platters.

The wine is vibrant ruby in colour. It displays notes of blueberries and strawberries on the nose. The palate is full of firm tannins with hints of blackberries and chocolate with a persistent finish.Enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 yearsThe fruit for this wine was derived from cuttings of our grandfathers original family vineyard in Tuscany.This is an indigenous variety specific to the Stefani family. Bryan Martin has been producing thought-provoking wines in Murrumbateman wine country since 2001. Their Estate vineyard is managed sustainably, focusing on soil health, and foregoing synthetic chemicals, herbicides, and fertilisers. Fruit is also sourced for their Regional Series from the surrounding Young, Hilltops & Canberra District regions. The 2022 Regional Sangiovese marks the 20th vintage producing this varietal, with fruit sourced primarily from the Hilltops region with a splash of Murrumbateman for elegance. After spending 3 weeks on skins as whole-berries, the wine is pressed to small 5 year old French oak casks for élevage, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Ageing: short ageing period in barrels of medium to small dimensions. Color: Ruby red, with warm garnet reflections. Bouquet: clean and flowery with distinctive notes of violets.
