Rising Pinot Noir
Giant Steps Circle of Fifths Pinot Noir
This is the debut release of Circle of Fifths Pinot Noir, a wine that brings together the highlights of Giant Steps’ single vineyards into one smooth and easy-going tune. Like a jazz band having a jam session, Circle of Fifths is all about finding harmony in diversity, creating something complete and balanced that captures the whole Yarra Valley vibe. This 2024 release, crafted by Mel Chester and her crew, who know how to let each vineyard hit its note just right, is a great first album. Fruit from Tarraford, Sexton, Primavera, Applejack, and Bastard Hill vineyards comes together here, each adding a little something to the blend’s overall rhythm. The 42% whole bunch fermentation gives a nice bounce to the red fruit and spice notes, while a touch of oak rounds things out like a steady bassline. It was a classic Yarra season, fresh and bright, with just enough warmth for a juicy finish. Hand-picked, gently handled, and blended with a light touch, this is a Pinot that’s easy to love now but has plenty to say down the line too. Think of it as the jam session after the solos, a wine that’s all about coming together and playing the right notes. 96 points"Along with the chardonnay, this is an exciting new addition to the Giant Steps range. A blend of all the single-vineyard wines and mainly from the vineyards in the Upper Yarra... Concentrated, with far more stuffing that the Yarra Pinot. Ripe, suave tannins ensure this will be worth cellaring for at least five to eight years."- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion) 94+ points"This is complex and well-flavoured but it’s the spread of the finish that sets it apart. It’s an excellent pinot noir... This wine feels as though it’s itching to release yet more complexities; it has that vibe. Time will be kind."- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
Warramate Pinot Noir Rose
From Yarra Yering’s sister label Warramate, this Pinot Noir Rosé shows pale salmon colour, rose petal perfume and fresh red fruits. Dry, savoury and finely structured with chalky tannins — a refreshing yet complex take on modern Yarra rosé.
Garagiste Terre de Feu Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir
Garagiste's only 100% whole bunch Pinot and the wine also sees a little more new oak than the rest. Expect a lifted yet restrained & complex nose with red fruits, smoke, bacon & thyme notes leading to an intense, deep palate with a core of silky Pinot fruit framed by fine, powdery tannins. A serious Pinot that is delicious now but that will equally benefit from a few years in the cellar.
Yarra Yering Dry White No 1
This white blend's aroma includes some beeswax complexity and preserved lemon peel lift. Red apple skin and creamy white peach. The palate has crunchy red apple freshness and delicious passionfruit tropical fruits. The small amount of skin contact gives a textural wine and encouraged structure through tannins. The length is dominated by the Semillon and driven by a bright acid tang that would stand up to a variety of food pairings.
Yarra Valley Single Vineyard A8 Syrah
The fruit for the Single Vineyard A8 Syrah is hand harvested and handled by gravity where possible. Dense red with purple. Perfumed, alluring, spice and violets. Flavours of dark fruits and graphite, graceful and textural.
Thousand Candles Gathering Field Shiraz
The wine has bright red fruit aromas and some herbal notes. Darker berries, cinnamon and spices plus some earthy characters are on the pallet. A classic cool climate style.
Thousand Candles Gathering Field Red Blend
A blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (38%) and Cabernet Franc (12%) Aromas of red berries, mushrooms and earthiness. The pallet is alive with red fruit, cassis and forest floor. A soft and elegant tannin profile with great structure.
