All of the wines at Clarendon Hills are made by hand and are crafted using only natural processes and ingredients to an extremely high standard. Consistent Moritz Syrah characters include smoke and blue berry fruits with black olive tapenade and iodine like mineral resonance throughout the silky palate. The Moritz Syrah is a part of the Clarendon Hills premier cru classification and generally drinks best after 8-10 years in the cellar, when its terroir is formally demonstrated.

It is sweetly fragrant and instantly appealing on the nose showing dark and purple fruit aromas together with tar, game, cocoa and spicy oak nuances. The palate is rich, intense and fleshy, displaying excellent power as well as rounded mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by velvety texture and silky tannins. Showcasing a bright ruby garnet hue, Maxwell Minotaur Reserve Shiraz exudes intense aromas of cherry, fresh nectarine and hints of leather from its attractive bouquet. The rich palate packs intense flavours of Satsuma plum, nutmeg and white pepper coupled with undertones of cedar oak and cocoa, which enhance the overall fruit profile. These vibrant characters fuse with fine tannins to provide a firm structure and length to the wine, ending in a powerful and persistent finale. This Minotaur Reserve Shiraz can either be enjoyed upon release or cellared for 12 to 15 years.

We were blessed with a spectacular vintage in 2013 - the reds will be talked about for along time! Low cropping with great intensity. The old vine shiraz fruit from the 1948 planted vines always delivers, and 2013 is no exception. We are very happy with the resultant wines from this old block of Shiraz in 2013, and we hope you will be too.
