Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz has been consistently produced as an elegant wine, tight in its youth, a wine that is made to age. It represents a different style of Shiraz within the Kaesler portfolio, when compared to its bolder brothers, The Bogan and Old Bas

The Hill Block straddles the ridge running through the Chapel Hill estate. The wine was then aged for 19 months in 100% tight grained French oak. The proportion of new oak was kept low to encourage the continued expression of the characters that are unique to the vineyard site.

One of the benchmark wines to come out of the Coonawarra, the Penfolds Bin 128 is a delightful cool-climate shiraz. Matured in French Oak, with flavours of white pepper and floral spice, the 2014 Bin 128 is a rich and full-bodied Shiraz.

First Creek are really winning over a lot of new fans, especially wine drinkers who may have previously not given the Hunter Valley its fair dues. In the glass: Deep garnet to purple. On the nose: Black and blueberry fruit, and spice. On the palate: Medium to full-bodied with luscious texture and soft tannins. Showing black cherry, blueberry and vanilla alongside red liquorice notes. Long and moreish.

Made from Vineyard to bottle. Low yields cool climate grapes from Nangkita Single Vineyard. Deep sandy soil and limestone beneath, rich in elements for natural aromas and flavours. Berry rich and intense formed with oaks. Richly fruited and immediately appealing with blackberry, sweet cherry, rich floral and spicy oak characters on the nose, followed by a wonderfully weighty palate offering richness with supple texture and fine tannins. Deep in colour, full bodied and richly textured Shiraz, with vibrant blackberry fruit characters combining with sweet oak characters in a smooth palate and finishing with ripe, lingering soft tannins. Whilst drinking well as a young wine, this classic Single estate Shiraz will reward careful long-term cellaring.

The EJ Shiraz is the jewel in Paxton's organic and biodynamic crown. Awarded 95 points in the Halliday Wine Companion 2017, this wine is the result of low yielding vines that are more than a century old. The flavour is elegant and round and the nose offers vanilla, black current and oak.

The V&A Lane wines from Wynns pay tribute to the wonderful and unique vineyards that are located around V&A Lane in central Coonawarra. This is a wonderful release from Wynns' iconic winemaker, Sue Hodder. A burst of spicy dark fruit hits the nose with ripe cherries, plums and black fruits on the palate. The richness of the fruit is held in check by fine tannins and deft use of good oak. A brilliant wine for right now or many years in the cellar.

Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is produced from a single vineyard at Coriole, planted in 1919 by Geoffrey Kay. It was first retained as a separate wine in 1989, and is one of Langton's Classified Wines of Australia. This vineyard typically produces a wine of great intensity and can be cellared for many years. The wine is matured in French oak with typically about 40% new.
