The 2023 Blonde Crow Fiano Pinot Gris from Mount Barker, produced by West Cape Howe in Western Australia, is a delight for the senses. Josef Chromy's Pinot Gris delivers a fresh, zesty flavour profile of ripe apricot, pear and subtle hints of ginger. The grapes are harvested quite ripe in order to give the palate its full, rich weight and texture with a beautifully balanced, lingering zesty finish. A great pairing with a Risotto or Calamari.

Petaluma have access to some of South Australia's premier vineyard sites which are put to impressive use here with their White Label Pinot Gris. 100% sourced from the Adelaide Hills, yet four vineyards are used to create this delicious white; two in the Piccadilly Valley, one near Balhannah and one near Lenswood. Only the very best fruit was selected and left to ferment in older French barriques, the resulting wine has a classic cool-climate backbone with racy acidity and depth of flavour on the palate.

Deviation Road Winery produces exciting cool climate wines and this one is a stunner. Partial barrel fermentation has added texture and depth to the sweet floral and pear characters. Silky body, mouth-filling and balanced.

Beurrot by Kooyong is comprised of two Pinot Gris parcels: the tiny original 0.24 hectare section annexing the Meres block, and the all-Pinot Gris Beurrot vineyard, which at 2.74 hectares, provides the majority of the fruit. The Beurrot vineyard is planted to a density of 5600 vines per hectare. The grapes are gently whole-bunch pressed directly into all-used French oak barriques, where fermentation takes place without inoculation. After fermentation the wine is aged on lees (without battonage) for 10 months. It is bottled without fining and with minimal filtration.

Established in 1996, Printhie has quickly garnered a repuation for quality cool climate wines, even picking up a 5 star rating from James Halliday. Pinot Gris is well suited here with luscious honeysuckle flavours balanced with bracing acidity. Textural mouthfeel adds to the mix of what is a wine to keep an eye on!
