It is located in the northeast of the Fleurieu Peninsula, stretching from Lake Alexandrina, on its southern fringes, towards the town of Langhorne Creek in the north. It is one of Australia's most historic winegrowing areas, with the oldest established wineries dating back to the mid-19th Century, and some plots of vines that have passed a century in age.

Pure aromas are reminiscent of fresh apricots, lifted ginger, saffron and fresh white flowers. The palate is long, rich and luscious, with intense and expressive stone fruit flavours and hints of orange peel, finishing with an alluring freshness. This wine will continue to grow and develop in the bottle, firstly showing enhanced apricots and spice, then after a couple of years developing honey flavours and toast complexity. After harvest, 60% of the fruit was gently pressed directly into old French oak barriques and puncheons and the remainder into stainless steel tanks. The juice was allowed to passively interact with the air, oxidising out any bitter phenolics and creating a perfect environment for the wild yeasts, natural to the vineyard, to begin fermentation. The wine was left on lees which, with regular bâtonnage for 10 months, increased the complexity and creaminess of the wine and further heightened the palate weight. Chief winemaker Louisa Rose directs the winery in a style of their own. It incorporates unique elements such as a grape vine nursery and on site cooperage. Samuel named the patch Yalumba, an aboriginal word meaning all the land around. Five generations and 160 years later, Yalumba has grown in size and stature to become Australia's oldest family owned winery. An elegant wine with aromas of mixed berries, dark chocolate and violets. The palate is smooth with blackcurrant and spicy oak flavours and finishes with fine chalky tannins. De-stemmed & crushed to open fermenters, for a short soak. Fermentation peak at 28ºC with pump overs up to 4 times daily. Drained & pressed after 8 to 12 days on skins including up to 5 days post ferment maceration. Settled for 24 hours before racking to oak for MLF Bleasdale is not only one of the oldest wineries in the Langhorne Creek region, but one of the oldest in Australia. Frank Potts, who founded Bleasdale in 1850, has a fascinating history. Born with sea legs, he joined the British Royal Navy at 9 years old and served on Lord Nelsons famous ship HMS Victory. He sailed around the world before landing in South Australia in 1836. He planted the first vines in 1858 and sold fruit to Thomas Hardy. He then expanded the vineyards in the 1860s. He was an innovator and a pioneer who played his role in establishing Australias wine industry. The Potts family still own Bleasdale and descendants Michael and Ben Potts handle the winemaking duties, along with Paul Hotker. They make wines from fruit grown on their 61 hectares of vineyards from varietals like Verdelho, Shiraz and Malbec in sparkling, table and fortified styles. Each parcel of fruit is carefully selected to produce a range of wines that can be enjoyed immediately, or cellared for that special occasion.
