Kerner... this evocative, textural treat is the brain child of August Herold. First planted in 1929 as a cross-breed of Riesling and Trollinger... fast forward 76 years to when Barossa bros Graeme & Michael Fechner had that elusive lightbulb moment - to plant Kerner cuttings in their northern Eden Valley vineyard whilst on a research trip in Germany. Their pioneering efforts, sparked our intrigue... we first dabbled with Kerner incorporating it into our aromatic field blend DÜFTE PUNKT, co-fermenting it with Riesling and Gewürztraminer from the same vineyard. After years of experimenting, we decided it was time to truly hero this germanic wunderkind, and push Kerner into the limelight with the release of the first KONTRAPUNKT in 2016... now Australia’s (and the Southern Hemisphere's) only Kerner. “Every now and then you encounter a wine that blows your mind. Sourced from boutique vineyards nestled in the heart of the Eden Valley, South Australia this Chardonnay is perfect for enjoying with friends while you bask in the sunshine. Pale golden in colour with aromas of white peach, pear and lemon curd and enhanced by flavours of stone fruit, lemon and pear with a creamy softness and subtle toasty finish.

Introduced in 1999 (originally as Eden Valley Reserve Bin Riesling), Bin 51 (from 2006) captures the attributes of the Eden Valley, adjacent to the Barossa Valley. The region’s altitude and cool climate consistently produces Riesling of great finesse and elegance with a capacity for long term cellaring. Bin 51 is typically fragrant with intense lime and rose petal aromas and fine, cutting acidity. It develops complexity and richness with age without losing clarity, freshness or linear acid structure. Grape parcels are batch-vinified in steel tanks and bottled early under screw-caps to preserve pristine fruit characters, freshness and natural mineral quality.

Henschke Julius is a classic expression of Eden Valley Riesling. An almost perfect vintage has provided the citrus blossom and lime aromas and an intense minerally structure which will develop for a decade at least.

Head Wines was started in 2006 by Alex Head. Each Head wine shows a distinctive house style of powerful fruit weight, elegance, freshness, finesse and balance which starts by farming vineyards sustainably and in some cases using organics and biodynamics.

Freya Riesling is a pristine bone dry style with piercing racy acidity and delicate lime and floral notes. The Riesling is sourced from the Eden Valleys high Eden sub-region. The fruit is whole bunch pressed with only the free run juice retained. Cool fermentation retains the wines fruit purity and delicacy.

The wine has a mild salmon pink colour which will develop further with time. It shows delicate aromatics of jasmine blossom and ripe melon with a dry palate that has abundant textural flavours of ripe apples and pear. The distinct citrus backbone will ensure the wine rewards aging for at least 5 years.
