Ninth Island Sparkling Rose displays bright lifted aromas of rose petals, fresh strawberry, spice and pouring cream. Langtons is proud to be first to market with the inaugural vintage of this Riesling, a selection from a very special part of the famous Contours vineyard. When it comes to Eden Valley Riesling, no name is greater than the Langtons Classified Contours Riesling from Pewsey Vale. The Contours vineyard was first planted in 1841, but the distinctive site we know today -- with vines planted along the contours of an Eden Valley hillside rather than in straight rows -- dates from the 1960s. From 1961 in fact, and this new wine comes from a single block of the oldest vines, planted in that year on a north-facing slope. The Contours Riesling is released with five years of bottle age. This new wine -- although almost equally ageworthy -- is a more approachable style and therefore suitable for release (like most other Rieslings) in the year following vintage. For many (or most) the 1961 Block Riesling will be indistinguishable from The Contours. The value here is obvious.

This remains one of Australia's esteemed Rieslings, a testament to the consistently excellent wines from the Mt Barker region in Western Australia. After aging in the cellar, the Howard Park Riesling has developed beautifully. While still showcasing its signature pristine aromas, the crisp green apple notes have softened and melded with richer citrus tones, and the citrus flowers have evolved into a more complex bouquet with subtle hints of honey and minerality. The palate retains its delicate yet intensely flavored character, now displaying a greater depth and complexity.

Devil's Corner Resolution Pinot Noir is a full bodied style of Pinot Noir showing blackberry, sour cherry and hints of cedar from the quality French oak. The wine displays a juicy fruit driven middle palate with a crisp savoury texture and fine grained tannins. Given the wines depth and structure it is well worth putting some away in the cellar and looking at it again in 5 to 8 years.

The Frenchman's Cap Sparkling from Tasmania is a testament to the exceptional quality of wines found in this region. This wine is a true expression of its terroir and the meticulous attention of the Frenchman's Cap winery. On the nose, this sparkling wine reveals delicate notes of green apples, lemon zest, and hints of brioche. Its pale straw color is reminiscent of the crisp, cool climate of Tasmania. Lusciously fruited, dry and fresh with a nicely rounded finish. Bright pale straw to straw colour with a watery hue. Spicy pear and red apple skin aromas drift from the glass followed by some quince, musk and honeysuckle notes. Luscious pear and Jonathan apple fruits overlay a musk, quince and cinnamon spice back drop. Dry and fresh it finishes nicely rounded with good length. Drink over the next 1-2 years. Alc. 13.5%

Josef Chromy is the ultimate example of the fact that its never too late to fulfil your dreams, having launched his wine label at the age of 76. Hes had great success since, as youll discover with this Riesling. In the glass: Bright pale lemon. On the nose: Tightly wound and delicate. On the palate: Pristine, dry and crisp with a lemon and lime fruit core. Really refined and precise, it has a wonderful quinine-like texture and very tight acidity that will ensure success in the cellar.
