Michel Chapoutier produces a wonderful, modern style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape here with a forboding Grenache and Syrah (Shiraz) blend that has lashing of blackcurrant, fig and licquorice root. A wonderful balance between power and elegance.

Grenache has long been a stalwart of the South Australian wine scene and Penfolds have been blending Grenache with Shiraz since the 1950's. Recent years has seen a growing trend for the luscious perfumed styles like those emanating out of the northern Rhône and the Bin 138 produces a brilliant example. Pure joy in a bottle. The grey sands (blonde in colour) that run through this incredibly naturally low yielding vineyard contribute remarkable density and elegance. Highly perfumed, jube-like blue fruits leap from the glass and the super fine tannins and acidity will leave you craving another glass!

Lyndoch Shiraz was fermented on skins in small open top fermenters with gentle plunging and irrigation for 5-10 days to make a powerful, full bodied and opulent wine with vibrance and purity. The palate has dark red fruits, is round, soft with seductive oak and silky tannins. Delicious now however you will be rewarded with medium to long-term cellaring. Enjoy with barbequed, roasted, grilled or slow cooked red meats particularly beef. It also pairs perfectly with spicy Asian meat dishes.

Elegant and medium bodied, Indigene by Spinifex is a Shiraz Mataro blend typically displaying ripe red and black complemented by forest floor and savoury undertones hinting of the Old World. The fruit is sourced from selected vineyards averaging in age between 60-100 years, providing the blend with impressive intensity and depth of flavour. Following traditional vinification, the wine is aged in seasoned French oak.

Another hearty expression of Barossa's generous fruit from the impressive Teusner stable. Black olives, black pepper and blackberries, there's a dark side to this feisty Shiraz. Concentrated and thick yet artfully constructed with balance and efficiency.

The Glaetzer family have been part of the Barossa winemaking scene since 1888 and now Ben takes over the reigns and produces Shiraz of the utmost intensity and concentration. Named after the ancient Egyptian god Amon-Ra who was the champion of the poor and troubled and was central to personal piety, the temple of Amon-Ra is believed to be the first to plant a vineyard to produce wine for the citizens of the temple. This incarnation is rich, full-bodied and viscous to the palate, yet with sublime oak integration and a balance on the back palate that is quite lifted allowing it to be paired with many meals and a prime candidate for medium to long term cellaring.
