Another string to their 'Single Vineyard' bow, Wynns reinvested in the Child's vineyard in 2009 - elevating the fruit there from its traditional supporting role in other premium releases (including John Riddoch and Black Label) to having a dedicated bottling of its own. Wynns is the proud custodian of many of the great vineyard sites along Coonawarra’s Terra Rossa strip, and each year we select one vineyard to highlight the individuality of the site. In 2023, we chose a young planting from the O’Deas 12.81 vineyard, located to the north of the winery, which was farmed by the O’Deas family until 1966 before being later sold and established as vineyard. The Terra Rossa soil here is dark reddish-brown, with moderate depth to limestone and an average elevation of 57.5 metres, and the current plantings are vine selections from our highly prized Childs vineyard, established on rootstocks. The 2023 season proved challenging, yet the diligence of both vineyard and winemaking teams delivered high-quality, medium-bodied wines, with vineyards planted on well-drained Terra Rossa soils achieving the strongest results.

Each wine in the Cellar Release range showcases Reschke's commitment to producing exceptional vintages that exemplify the unique terroir of their region, delivering a harmonious balance of flavours and a memorable drinking experience. This Cabernet Sauvignon is deep ruby in colour, and exhibits enticing aromas of blackcurrants and cedar. The palate reveals layers of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, and subtle spice, with integrated oak and soft tannins for a complex and lingering finish.

The fruit is sourced from a selection of our very best Estate Grown grapes in the heart of Coonawarra, resulting in the production of a truly exceptional wine. This rich and fruit-driven parcel of hand-selected Cabernet fruit exhibits a deep ruby red colour alongside aromas of ripe-dark fruits. The palate presents flavours of mulberry, blackcurrant, and juicy plum complemented by hints of pepper spice. The wine provides a full-bodied structure that is beautifully balanced by silky tannins and excellent varietal characteristics – for that lasting impression.

The Author pays homage to pioneering vigneron John Riddoch (1827 - 1901). A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. An influential figure, he established the Coonawarra fruit colony in 1890 and is synonymous with the region's story. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage. Dark red in colour, with a crimson hue and classic aromatics of ripe cassis and blackberry fruit. Vibrant blueberry and black forest fruit flavours aew well integrated with hints cedar and spicy oak from maturation in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads.Elegantly structured, fine grained tannins lead to a long and persistent finish. This has all the hallmarks of a classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and will drink well now but will reward patient cellaring for 10 to 15 years.

This wine epitomises Coonawarra at its very finest. Deep magenta in colour with rich blackberry aromatics and hints of spiced cedar oak. Lush blackberry plays on the palate, while the fine tannin structure creates an elegant, balanced finish with persistent length. Aged in a combination of old and new French Oak for 15 months with an additional 24 months of bottle maturation prior to release, this wine will drink well now but also reward careful cellaring for 10-15 years.

The Savaterre vineyard is elevated at 430m above sea level and is farmed along organic principles. No pesticides are used. An incredibly complex, lifted, lively and intense nose. Exotic aromas of smoked meats, dried red rose, allspice, clove, dark plum, dark cherry ,blackberry, mulberry, mandarin, violets, sandalwood, bay and funky undergrowth. This aroma really revs me up, it continues to evolve as time goes by. This wine is alive! Complexity, poise, sinewy acid, fine tannins wrapped around a sleek core of pristine dark fruit. A wine thats slightly reduced and smelling of undergrowth now that transforms in the glass and continues to seduce. This is Terroir. This is Savaterre.
