With access to some of Bordeaux's finest appellations, the Mouton Cadet is considered the premier affordable Bordeaux wine on the market today. Hard to argue when attractive notes of blueberry, morello cherry and blackcurrant simply cascade from the glass creating a truly memorable red wine experience. Sourced from growers from limestone rich soils of the Entre-Deux-Mers and Côtes de Bordeaux to the clay soils around Blaye and the gravel rich Côtes de Bourg. All contributing to what is possibly the bargain old world wine of the year.

JEAN-PIERRE MOUEIX BORDEAUX rouge was inspired by the founders early mission: when Jean-Pierre Moueix launched his wine merchant business in 1937, he sought to offer eminently drinkable and enjoyable wines that reflect a sense of place. Personally selected by Christian and Edouard Moueix, the Merlot grape offers depth and complexity, while Cabernet Franc brings structure and spice to the blend. Combined, these varietals produce wines of character and body while maintaining a unique suppleness. The wine shows ruby red with an intense, complex nose presenting notes of cherry, strawberry and blond tobacco. The palate is powerful and inviting with smooth, silky tannins.

Stylish as ever, Château Latour Camblanes 2012 is ruby red in colour; pleasing aromas of juicy fruits develop on the nose alongside fine hints of baking spices. The palate has a lovely velvety feel, with delightful flavours of freshly-picked red berries and notes of cocoa and cardamom. An elegant tannic structure gives finesse and a well-balanced, flavourful finish. A fabulous red for cellaring.

Les Tours de Beaumont from the vineyards of Chataeu Beaumont in the heart of the Bordeaux region expertly combines classic medoc characterisitcs with delicate, silky dark fruit flavours with a hint of earthy notes.

Rich fruit on the palate with cassis, plum jam and blackberry compote, wrapped around layers of dark chocolate, anise and tar. rounding out the palate is the beautiful hint of lavendar, the wine is medium bodied and soft, with black fruit lingering in its finish.

When you start getting insanely high Decanter scores (97pts!) and enough gold to satisfy even the most bling-obsessed person you know, then you’d assume you’re dealing with some incredibly expensive Bordeaux. Guess you’d be wrong in this instance. Not on the quality of course, but on the price. This might be our best Bordeaux deal ever. We don’t need to go into too much detail on the wine. We’ll let the Decanter review below do the heavy lifting. We’ll just say ‘ditto’ to that.

Calvet Grande Reserve is a red colour with purple hints. Powerful and complex nose, with scents of red fruits and spices. The attack is nice and structured, with flavours of cherry and vanilla. The finish is long and pleasant.
